I saw some scary af numbers recently on a poll on that. 20% antivaxers, at least for COVID-19. Then another 30% not sure.

    I mean dang.

I'll temper that with a recognition that at present, if we imagine a vaccination being put out there, we know it's from a guy who wants us to inject lysol and shove a UV flashlight "inside the body," and is hocking a drug that keeps being shown to kill more people than it helps.

I'll tell you right now I'll be in the second line to get it. I didn't think I'd ever say that or anything like it.

I agree that the flu shot isn’t all that popular. I never used to get it until my youngest daughter was born with a congenital heart defect and the Doc told us to start getting it.

But, while I understand that many Americans might equate Covid with a flu, I think that many people worldwide will see Covid differently. And, maybe most US citizens will also feel that this pandemic is different from a seasonal flu.

It’s all a guessing game at this point. I think that might be one of the biggest challenges : the uncertainty.

My vaccination will most likely be Chinese-made and tested in collaboration with a university here in Nova Scotia. The world is racing towards a vaccine. The US is a huge, massive contributor and they’ll probably cross the finish line first. But, I figure other world countries will be more willing to share and the rest of us will pool from that supply.

The vaccine is sugar water, and masks are a mind control device.

The solution is people will just have to stop being afraid, and the omelette of immunity will require broken eggs.

It's a really good question. I guess we haven't seen enough experimenting yet to say what will have enough appeal to become a lasting change.

One thought is that maybe the prime time golf matchups will become more of a thing. They could do all kinds of pro / celeb pairings that might draw in interest from people who normally would never watch golf on TV.

I hope baseball can pull off some kind of miracle that avoids massive unrest between players and owners & brings new fans (or old ones) to the game.

I guess people aren’t all that concerned about something with a fatality rate around .26%

Especially when that fatality rates is even less for you personally, because you are say, 30-40 years old.

And apparently it's impossible to get if you're in the process of looting a Target.

.26 is probably heavily overstated because it doesn’t include those that have had it but never developed serious enough symptoms to get tested. Contrary to popular belief everyone who is infected does not end up in a hospital.

I don’t disagree, but I’m just using the numbers the CDC provided.

The CDC just came out with the .26% which was a dramatic change from their previous 4.0%. This change actually does include asymptotic estimates based on new random testing being done in various regions.

For good or bad, the courts are starting to step in, and these stay at home things and closed businesses will be over before long. The Governors, I believe, had the Constitutional power to do what they did for a brief while. While we were afraid the sheer numbers would overwhelm hospitals, and millions would die the courts would certainly give them lots of leeway. However, once it was shown that wasn’t going to happen, even in places like NYC where they did basically everything wrong they possibly could, the freedoms that were removed should have been immediately returned. The numbers now look like they are running slightly higher than a bad flu season. The death rates are being predicted in the CDC’s latest models to be lower than the flu in under 50’s and higher in the 60’s but once again not too differently. What many states are doing now will be ruled illegal and thrown out. The press will continue to report those numbers and some people will continue to panic until after the election in November, then those numbers won’t be shown any more.

One of the problems is that a vaccine may never be found. We can't wait for that.

Another potential problem is the financial windfall for a cure, which could make it a race instead of a collaboration of great minds.

Then there's the politics, which could be the biggest problem.

One of the recent bits of information to come out is that the normal human temperature is probably 97.9.

So if a person shows up at a game with a temp at 98.9, they are actually a full degree elevated from the norm.

The problem with that, of course, is that our "normal" temperature is also somewhat individual. This means that screening by temp is only valuable for clearly high temps, say over 101.

So what do we do with people who show up at public events with a symptom of illness that is so obvious and clear? If coughing on purpose, at food and people, is a criminal act of aggression, what does it mean to show up at a public event with a temperature during a pandemic?

Never had a flu shot and I am 63. Never worn a mask either.

My state is wide open. Almost nobody wears masks. Not required or desired.

In Marxachusetts the average age of the victims is 82 but could actually be rising. Most of the dead were in state-run nursing homes, which are flooded with political appointees who contributed to those now calling the shots. The patients hadn't even stopped passing away when the governor started to cap any future damages to the families.

"bad flu season" = 60K-80K dead over twelve months, and without shutdowns
covid-19 = 100K dead in three months, even with massive shutdowns

    Stop lying.
