They arent as good without Layne Staley.
Their last three albums are master pieces. i love them as much as the old stuff. And they are still great live. I just saw them in august with korn . i absolutely loved that show. the place was soldout
Every song sounds similar on Rainier Fog and not near the quality and innovative writing and vocals like when Staley was with the band.
Its common. We all want to go back in time when these bands were on the top. Trying to convince ourselves and others that they are just as good if not better, buts its a mirage.
Living in the was.
These bands go out and find a new lead singer so they can still play old great songs that made them famous and still sound like the same band. AC - DC, STP, Alice, Journey are all guilty parties and none of them have produced new music as good as the original band. When these makeover bands release new music people are not beating the doors down to buy it.
Fans go to the show to relive the glory days and hopefully hear the old songs.
Van Halen for example hired a new lead singer and made great songs that were innovated and sounded totally different than the Roth Van Halen hits.
i was talking about myself not anybody else. There is no right or wrong here. Its just a matter of opinion. i love the last three albums as much as the old stuff. Not for any other reason than the music. i love Jerry Cantrells solo stuff to.
Great live version of the song. Still looks weird to me with out Mike Portnoy on drums (though Mike Mangini is very good).
This song is incredible in so many ways.
