It's an outstanding show - is absolutely a worthwhile challenger to GOT in the historic fantasy stakes (obviously there's less fantasy involved).

Hot tip, if anyone is interested in the Vikings because of the show, give a listen to the Saga Thing Podcast.

One final note. My surname means "Thor's-people" or "Thor's-Light" so I have a vested interest in the show :)

I knew of his fate in from the sagas (thank you liberal arts education), so that wasn't unexpected. In fact, what WAS unexpected was that they more or less got in the two famous lines attributed to him as his final words. That was pretty cool.

It won't be the same without him, but I'm pretty stoked about Ivar's revenge. The Harald/Bjorn storyline doesn't interest me as much, but they haven't really spent much time on it, so we'll see.

    ---HISTORICAL SPOILERS BELOW---

Ivar and Ragnar's other sons kick some major ass in England and subject Aella to a blood eagle before taking off to raid Frankia. Ivar actually becomes more famous than Ragnar.
