The critics have blasted them all season, but Sunday night the Patriots defense proved that they really are better than people think.

    Message to all terrorists....

The rest of the world doesn't give a crap if you use innocent civilians as shields. We won't react any differently.....

And if innocents die, it's on you, no one else.

And yes folks, that's a fact.

You're right; I should have said relatively so. For example, they do have the courtesy to call a hospital prior to shelling it. Or this: http://www.newsweek.com/graphic-video-allegedly-shows-wounded-civilian-killed-israeli-sniper-260122

You're getting closer, but ultimately the objectives aren't at issue, either. Since you agree that Israel has the high moral ground in this conflict, you'd also likely agree that they're bound to play by different rules than those they are fighting against. Then, potentially, you can see how embracing an argument long used by terrorists to justify atrocities against civilians could be problematic. Certainly Israel could obliterate Gaza, which may serve their short-term objectives but clearly would represent a Pyrrhic victory. Unfortunately the tactics being used in this conflict portend a less catastrophic but similarly Pyrrhic victory for Israel this time around.

I don't find justifying Israel's actions by citing the actions of a terrorist organization particularly compelling. YMMV.

What--in your moral calculus--would ever justify action by Israel?

Not sure who is expressing sympathy for them, other than you. Unless this is a straw man argument.

I'm not arguing that action broadly defined on the part of Israel is unjustified. What I am arguing is that this particular action (or set of actions), even if justified, are unlikely to accomplish the goals Israel has defined. And that, specifically, is what I am bemoaning.

I don't think just accepting the incoming missiles was accomplishing any of Israel's goals either.

Wrong. In fact, I rejected this argument when it came to Guantanamo and torture. I don't judge the appropriateness of our actions based on the people or groups we fight against. I judge them against our own set of moral obligations.

I disagree, PR. We care and we mourn. Many (not all) of the people impacted are caught in the middle here.

Ok, have it your way Jack....no matter who the people are firing missiles into your country, the right thing to do is to respond with greater force.

Can you provide any example of countries that were attacked by another nation and did not respond?
