Super bowls, discipline guy,. team builder who turned Jacksonville into playoff team. The coaching mismatch being in belichicks favor àlwayse... except against coughlin... Doesn't get intimidated.

Beating coughlin in the playoffs was huge. Like revenge for the helmet catch... Now gotta beat him again.. .its tough. He's not on the field but he's the defacto HC of that team.

He’s one of the few coaches that has given BB problems.

Yeah felgie and mazz are always chatting down on other coaches in the league, how lame it is most times. It's actually true when you look at coaching blunders with time outs and clock management. And also team preparation... It's really noticeable but I'm concerned the jags will be quite prepared...it's gonna take a perfect effort in all 3 phases...

Hmmm. I am not sure you can call him Belichick lite when he beat us twice in the Super Bowl and his team came close to beating us the AFC Championship game last year in our house. More like Belichick conundrum. I am looking forward to the game this weekend and am cheered that Jax had some trouble beating the lowly Giants (another team Coughlin should have wanted to pound). Should be a good one!

2nd revenge game for Couglin in as many weeks. He may not be the coach but you know he has some input. He also will give them a pep talk prior to the game. You will also see him on the broadcast about 2 dozen times. Less if the Pats are taking care of business...

Ah yes .. the short yap response without counter argument.. well,. A guy who sits upstairs and builds system structure behind the scenes is defacto HC in those respects, without being the field general.

I live here. I see behind the scenes stuff all the time. Marrone is the head coach and there is no doubt about that. My girlfriend's cousin and his wife are also very close friends with the Marrones and get access to behind the scenes and postgame stuff all the time. There is zero question for them that Marrone is the head coach as well if that helps you any. Coughlin essentially collects the talent at this point and is an advisor for Marrone but he lets Marrone run the day to day stuff with the team as, you know, the head coach. He's essentially the Casario to Marrone's Belichick.

He's definitely a hands-on, involved front office guy, but I disagree with the idea that he's a defacto head coach.

That's cool. I admit that I'm surmising just a tad to give more credit to Coughlin for flipping that franchise into a playoff team. That opposed to marrone who coached at Buffalo prior. That said, it's a team effort and I don't discount the value of the winning culture that Coughlin installed. Along with others under his direction. Here in new England it's all belichick so he directs the entire operation including on field general. It's truly amazing what he has done and how he has done it. As " head coach" ...which here means Mr. Everything..

Marrone went 9-7 with that dogshit Buffalo team, and had an out in his contract, which he couldn't wait to execute, to get as far away from Orchard Park as possible.

The Pats are often imitated but so far seldom duplicated...

Is the Khan-Coughlin-Marrone relationship, similar to the Kraft-Adams/Caserio- Belichick relationship?? I.E. the owner owns and has some input, but most decisions are made between BB and his trusted lieutenants...

Khan has mostly been hands-off with the team. Coughlin and Marrone pretty much have free reign over the personnel and Marrone has free reign with the game plans, etc.

Everybody's too polite in this thread, so imma just say it: **** Coughlin and everything he stand for. Was hoping his old dusty ass would've disappeared to some vacation house after he got fired. At least I don't have to see him on the field anymore.

^^^^ it's that kind of details oriented stuff that makes a difference. Marrone and Coughlin are a 1-2 punch since Marrone has the division experience with Buffalo while TC has the old time Giants coaching staff plus more recent super bowl experience against belichick... It's enough to get Ernie Adams all fired up... maybe we see some trick plays.. hope so..
