Apparently, there was a big pow wow with Goodell, owners and players, earlier this week, but they didn't decide on a unilateral approach at that time.

It's pretty much Washington Examiner's business model, from what I've seen. It doesn't have the established credibility of bigger outlets, so it seems to traffic in sensationalist, oftentimes misleading headlines instead. It's only been in existence for a little over a decade and stopped printing an actual newspaper around 5 years ago. Pretty much just a politics blog with a name that suggests history and credibility that it doesn't have.

I've fallen for its headlines a few times myself, they're pretty good at disguising what they are.

TickPick's customers, maybe. Other resellers are reporting the opposite.

Regardless of your position on the protests it certainly does not appear to be a smart business move by the NFL as a whole. Whether it happens this week, this year or at some point in the future it does not seem like a great business model to alienate a good portion of your fan base. If the vehemence expressed all over the internet is real and ultimately translates into less interest/sales then the owners will certainly never reach their stated target of $25 Billion in revenue and the players will suffer will lower salary caps and potential endorsement deals.

not watching the game....so did the packers do anything special for the anthem tonight? (can't believe that's a question I'm even asking lol) Did the fans do what Rodgers asked them to do?

The players locked arms but when the panned the crowd all I saw was the fans with hands/hats over their hearts. Did not see anyone locking arms but concede I was not watching too closely.

No, not at all. As I said I listen to the veterans as they fought for your country and sacrificed so much for you and in case of WW2 even saved the world. I honestly respect their commitment and their willingness to do everythimg to protect their country. But as I said you'll find some veterans saying it was their right to do what they did and support it and some are furious. I respect both opinions just way too much to say to one or the other is wrong.

Just imagine you meet a veteran who fought many wars and you talk about the whole kneeling protest and he tells you: That's what I fought for! I think you'd respect him way too much to say to him you're simply wrong.

Thanks for fleshing that out. I freakin' hate incomplete news stories. I'll adjust my earlier post accordingly.

Yes, yes at all. Your response was absolutely asinine. Your refusal to admit that just makes it worse. I'm just going to put you on ignore until tomorrow and, maybe, we can try again if you wish.

I guess he just forgot how offended he's supposed to be. I'm sure the righteously indignant folks on this forum will be happy to correct him, though.

That's fine. I stand for the anthem when I hear it, even on TV. But that's just because I'm more patriotic than you. I guess you just don't respect the military or the flag. You're a bad person.

I'm kidding of course. I don't expect people to stand when they see it on TV, although I actually do stand.

But I don't think it's unreasonable for people to shut the **** up and quit chewing on food and talking during the anthem. At least show a little respect here. Don't burp and grab another wing while it's playing.

But if you do, that doesn't mean you're anti-military or anti-America or whatever other dumb excuses some of these idiots are making up.

I am not sure I get that argument by those making it ... when watching on TV one is not in the presence of the flag.

From US Code Title 36 - Patriotic and National Observances, Ceremonies, and Organizations. Refer to:

    Subtitle I > Part A > Chapter 3 > § 301
    36 U.S. Code § 301 - National anthem

    (a)Designation.—
The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b)Conduct During Playing.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
    (1) when the flag is displayed—
    (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note;
    (B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
    (C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
    (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Now nobody is going to jail over this, nor should they. I'm not saying that. And I don't want to get caught-up in the letter of the law. This is just saying there is a precedent for standing for the anthem even when it's on TV.

Some people do, some people don't. It doesn't define someone's level of patriotism though.
