Did it used to be higher? I swear I read of the Beatles paying something like 90% in the '60s. In the '80s a French family I knew paid 72% in taxes. They were dentists.

Yes, the top rate was very high in the sixties and seventies -- it then went down dramatically.

Let me say this then....I've been on a lot of trains in my short life in many parts of the world but I can say that I most enjoy the travel through the English countryside.
Nottingham women... there must be something in the water in that city... they're gorgeous. Best looking women in the UK, an opinion shared by a couple of military guys I met there. Also, the ratio of birds to blokes in the clubs is obscene, something like 7:1!
i agree totally. i think it was Euston Station in London to Lime Street Station in Liverpool. What a trip.
