The NFL is not the NBA where one player is arguably worth tanking for. It probably worked out for the Colts in that one particular instance but most teams get their high picks then continue to stink year after year. The Patriots talent has come from all rounds of the draft, undrafted FA and often from reclamation projects who were acquired on the cheap (like Van Noy, Chung, T Brown). Pats already have a ton of cap space nest year so they'll be able to re-build a lot of roster anyways.

The biggest reason for this season being a down year is likely the schedule. It is very tough. Looks like an 8-8 season or 6-10 so you're looking at drafting around 10 and 18. Drafting 10th would give the Pats enough amo to move up and draft a QB (not necessarily Trevor) like Fields (a top 5 pick) or even Purdy (10-15 range), if Stidham isn't the long term answer.

If we get off to a bad start this season, does bb pull the plug on the season and tank for Lawrence?

    makes sense

Every team in the league without a franchise QB who goes 1-3 should start losing on purpose, playing for the first pick of the draft instead of the playoffs. NOT

Uhhhh...you’d rather be a treadmill team? If there is a can’t miss QB...you go get him.

No such thing. And even if such a thing exists, I don't put Lawrence in that category.

BB is not going to allow a tank. Not a chance. A tank would be a black mark on his legacy and he knows that. And teams don’t do that anyway for reasons already posted here.

I definitely don’t think he would allow a tank but as of right now I just dont see this team being able to win many games especially with this schedule.

Yeah I’ve seen him play - doubtlessly far, far more than you have. I’ve seen him beat up weak-ass ACC teams (not a single ACC team finished in the top 25 this season other than Clemson) and then look very mortal against quality opponents.

All the talk of Trevor Lawrence’s greatness comes from what he did to Alabama 2 years ago. He played a great game and upset a dominant Alabama team. Last year he had a good-but-not-great season. I need to see more than just one great game from a guy before I elevate him the way the media has.
