I look at a lot of them and I see teams like the Titans taking a QB or the Vikings still taking a RB or the Patriots taking an undersized Demeco Ryans to play ILB and I am just blown away.

Why would the Titans who have Billy Volek as the heir-apperent to McNair, be looking for a franchise QB? Volek has as good or better rapport with Drew Bennett than McNair does. Wouldn't they be better served drafting an OT to replace Brad Hopkins, whom they cut?

Why would the Vikings draft another RB in the 1st round after they just signed Chester Taylor?

Why would the Patriots take Demeco Ryans, who is clearly too small to play the Pats ILB position?

Ryans has been playing OLB, so he may be able to play some type of role in the 3-4 as an OLB. Colvin could be the rushing specialist, and Ryans could sometimes rush, and sometimes cover. He's very smart, so could adapt to the style of play he needs to have. It's probably not the best pick, but I can somewhat understand it, and I'm just trying to explain others reasoning behind it.

The Vikes had RB woes last year similar to what the Pats went through; Taylor also is a reserve who didn't always step up as I've read somewhere or other, taking another back to develop behind him isn't too screwball a thought.

I can see taking Leinart and being in a position to trade Volek next year...but, I'd also be looking at Fergusen if he dropped to me.

Last year the mocks all had the Pats taking 4-3 LBs, I would make similar pics trying to mock some teams. Ignorance is fun when you mock, no?

Mock draft are based 100% on "need of the moment". They are just for fun. The mock drafts 12 hours before the draft starts will still be totally wrong by the 20 pick in the first round. :rocker:

For all our talk about the unpredictability of BB/SP's drafts, we as obsessive fans often do better predicting our team's picks than the "pros" do. We understand the particular scheme our team plays, and the management's tendencies. By similar logic, we're presumably lousy predicting other teams' picks. And nobody can predict the picks of a team with new personnel management in place.

That being said, it's pretty sloppy to see "linebacker" as a team need and disregard the difference between 3-4 and 4-3 linebackers. And what makes every mock in the world so sure that Houston will take Bush #1? There's a franchise LT and a franchise DE out there, both of which are much bigger needs for that team. Write in Ferguson at #1 and kiss your whole mock goodbye.
