If you read the section on the missing kicking ball and Ghost's insistence that they find the K1 ball he kicked off with. An NFL official took the K1 ball to use for some charity auction so they started to use the K3 ball. Ghost complained and went to track K1 down. When the official returned with what he claimed was the K1 ball, it lacked Anderson's stamp. So either the original K1 was illegal or they tried to put an illegal ball in the game.
Nothing nefarious but it does show just how screwed up the game officials were.
