He was the only bright spot when we got spanked by the Ravens, but after his injury he was never the same

He was always a solid, serviceable #2/3 for his career, and could have been a nice piece of the puzzle for us. After his injury, he was horrible looking, and he's done little since then to show that he'll regain any semblance of the decent role player he used to be.

He had 81 yards on 14 targets. He was never good. That was my biggest objection to the trade: he would be, at best, a small upgrade from Meyers, whereas a trade for OJ Howard would take the TE position from ZERO to decent/good.

Wouldn't he have made more money working two years for the Pats at BB lower offer than part-time last year? I don't fault him for believing in himself, but didn't he lose a lot of money?
In 2020 he was on the hook for $6.5m w/ NE.

Seems they wanted him to stay in exchange for a salary cut. Guessing but he would have had a chance to make 1/2 that if he stayed.

At any rate, after he was cut he he made $370k w/ the Lions and another ~$275k for 3 games with the 49ers.

So yea......bad decision on his end.

He just didn't work out here. Glad the snaps went to Meyers.

Yeah, I agree. Glad Myers got the experience, and we saved $4M.

Kind of silly to admit you believed in yourself and it cost you about $4M or more. So he left "I lost over $4M believing in myself" part out of the interview.

I thought he’d get cut regardless. Taking a pay cut doesn’t ensure you make the 53.

Here’s him explaining what happened during the trade and his time in NE. He felt the pressure to return and play injured. Unlike Harry, he didn’t want to let people down, knew what was at stake and got back on the field ASAP. Much respect.

Howard wasn't and still isnt available for trade though.

Conflicting reports. Regardless, I think a big upgrade a WR1 (E Sanders) or a decent tight end upgrades the offense a lot better than yet another #3 guy whose more of a complementary player. They already had enough of those. Maybe Sanu was the only guy available…idk…but when I heard about their specific interest in Sanu I was shocked.

The 2019 team was much more than an average WR away from legitamate contending. We were mislead by a cupcake schedule that allowed the defense to brutalize a run of bad young QBs. The team couldn't stop the run, it couldn't block, and its QB gave up once AB was cancelled.

Bill was not going to pay for a top receiver. That's always been the issue. What did we offer Cooks? $9 mil? A joke.

Bill does not value or understand the WR position at all. Here is the WR rankings for this season. We come in at #26 and this was during an off season where we had money to burn.
