I'm not sure that screen or flare has much of a difference for the points being discussed here.

The crazy part about the play is that it doesn't even look like Brady was looking at Stallworth or even saw him, but just knew where he'd be.

HUGE difference. A Flare is part of a progression. Brady was likely told to check the Flare first because Jax was playing Man and the WR would run off the DB's...both ILB's came and there was no one to tackle Maroney...But there would be other progressions to check, including Stallworth on the Go.

If Spicer didn't jump the Flare, it probably would have been as big a play as the Stallworth catch.

A Screen, on the other hand, would have been designed to go to Maroney specifically and would involve lineman blocking and then releasing into the Screen area, which did not happen.
