I don't know if anybody has seen the ads for this new TV show or not. I'm sure for some they'll watch it as and find it uplifting and a source of hope. For me I can't even stomach the commercials. Showing the police coming to the door and a man answering it and them saying we found your son, his replying my son is dead and then his son still at the age when he passed running up and hugging his much older than then dad is just too much for a bereaved parent.

Count me as agreeing with you. It was obviously not screened before an audience of bereaved parents. Some things are worse than death, standing over the grave of your child is one of them....

I'm unsure what's happened to television - or to common sense.

I've not lost a child but these previews creeped me out big time...I remember thinking, "You've got to be kidding."

    Unfortunately, they weren't.

Besides being painful for anyone who's ever lost anyone, the premise doesn't even make sense, fergodssake.

I didn't see the first episode of the show on Sunday night, but I was considering watching it on demand sometime this week.

After reading this thread, I may re-think that position.

While we're on the subject, I'm not sure if anyone has read the latest Mitch Albom book (5 people you meet in heaven, Tuesdays with Morrie), but he had another good bestseller come out at Christmas time. It's called "The first phone call from heaven." From what I understand, the premise is sort of like the show you are speaking of, but the contact is received via a phone call, not in person. It's another one I'm on the fence about, but it sounds like it may be a good read at some point.

I will post my thoughts on the show sometime later on this week or next, if I decide to watch it.

I read Tuesday's with Morie back when it came out before I had kids. I don't think I could make it through a book like that now. The closest I've come to anything like that was reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It sends a spiritual message that references a lot of different religions without being specific to one of them.

I did end up watching the ABC show on demand tonight.

I do not recommend watching in under any circumstance. My concern is that it'd bring up some painful memories that are unnecessary for you to go through.

Read "5 People you meet in Heaven" and "Tuesdays with Morrie" twice, even though I knew what was going to happen Morrie brought several tears.. both are amongst my all time fave reads.

Apparently this show is doing poorly and should soon be just a memory.. I would probably "stroke out" if this happened to me.
