Report: Moss Restraining Order

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss in trouble with the Law

According to what I've seen, the restraining order was filed in Broward County. That's one county up from Dade County, where Moss lives.

There might be some fire with this smoke. Who knows?

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss in trouble with the Law

Request to moderator: Can you change the title of this thread? NOWHERE has it been reported or even suggested that Randy Moss "is in trouble with the law." He ALLEGEDLY has been the target of a restraining order.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss in trouble with the Law

At this point, only ONE thing is for sure, as PFT wrote today:

"The only thing we can say for sure is this: WDBO owes everyone an explanation. You can’t just post a story, tout it as breaking news, and then pull it from your web site without explaining why."

Hence, the edited title for the past 1.5 hours has been leading with "Unsubstantiated Report". I edited that in the moment (within 5 minutes) I saw the new thread.

However, I will edit the second part to read "Restraining Order".

Thank you very much.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss in trouble with the Law

This may be the biggest non-story I've ever seen posted on this board. We all know there are many out there who have just been waiting to say "I told you so about Moss".

In my eyes, he's still the same man he was last week and will remain so until he is convicted of a crime.

Hey!....isn't that the way it's supposed to be in America?

No one here will admit it, but this is just plain GOSSIP with a capital "G" which is often disguised as "breaking news"

That sucks, hopefully it turns out to be much ado about nothing.

The timing is interesting, though.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss in trouble with the Law

I hope nothing comes from this, if it does Randy will stop speaking at the poduim and we'll never get to see him in a Superman Pajamas again. Other then that, who cares as long as he's not beating women !!

"In Trouble with the Law" doesn't imply guilt, just that the "law" (ie police/criminal justice system) is investigating a criminal matter. IF this is the correct Randy Moss and the allegations aren't dismissed out of hand its completely accurate.

You are correct Tunescribe. I can only hope this board will be endeavor to be more responsible than the website that posted this "rumor"

How bout it mods, can we do all we can to protect Moss until we know the truth? After all, that is what good fans do.

How can we "protect" Moss? There are two possibilities. One, its the wrong Moss. So we had a discussion on here about a media error. Two, its the right Moss. Then the discussion is totally valid. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean we can't, or shouldn't discuss it.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss Restraining Order

So far there's only one person reporting it, every other "news source" are going off of what she reported.

It's been on the airwaves in Florida and Massachusetts. There is nothing that this board can do in squashing discussion here at this point (and at any point since the Florida station went airwave and website with it last night) that would "help" Randy.

The most responsible thing we can do now (and what we've been doing from the beginning last night) is to correctly remind that this is a completely (outside of Rozzie Franco) unconfirmed and unsubstantiated report. The fact that someone named Randy Moss has a restraining order is in the gov't records. Whether or not it is the WR of the Patriots is not substantiated. That is what it is.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss Restraining Order

The report is back up.
Link
One of the NFL's top athletes is in trouble again.

New England Patriot's wide receiver Randy Moss has been hit with a temporary injunction for protection against dating violence.

According to the affidavit Moss committed a battery upon the victim causing serious injury and then refused to allow her to seek medical attention.

The affidavit out of Broward County reveals Moss cannot come within 500 hundred feet of the victim and cannot use or possess firearms.

Moss's troubles started in high school. He served a 30-day sentence for kicking a high school classmate. He was kicked out of Florida State University for marijuana use, arrested for domestic violence and then arrested for pushing a Minneapolis police officer with his car.

A hearing in the case is scheduled on January 28th.

The court will determine whether to file a permanent judgment of injunction for protection against dating violence.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case.

Moss's attorney Tim Dipiero was unavailable for comment.
They also include a shot of Moss that looks like a mug shot (which I believe it deceptive since Moss has not been arrested or apparently even questioned).

Rozzie Franco's bio
Rozzie Franco attended Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. She is a graduate of Florida International University in Miami with a B.A. in English literature. After graduation, Rozzie worked as a bartender in Miami's South Beach clubs. When Rozzie decided it was time to move on, she began a career in pharmaceutical sales and led her sales team to become the top selling reps in the company. In 2006, after returning to Daytona Beach to be closer to family, she was offered a job in the news department at WNDB-AM 1150. In 2007, she joined WDBO-AM 580 and became a weekend news reporter. In less than three months Rozzie became part of the morning news team as a full time reporter/producer.
In other words, she's an unlikely source of a major story and doesn't have much of a journalistic background.

This is ******ed. I've been a member here a long time and have zero history of posting BS. If I found out someone filed a restraining order and then is charging me with battery (and a court date is set) I think that qualifies as having trouble with the law. I never said he was guilty, just posting the story. I have always given people the benefit of the doubt, especially pats. Sorry if I offended some over-sensitive people!

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss Restraining Order

If Rozzie Franco is right, she did her job well.

If she is wrong, I hope Randy Moss sues her for everything.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss Restraining Order

Ah great. Now it will spread.

Re: Unsubstantiated Report: Moss Restraining Order

ps. whats interesting is that if you do a search, there are 2 pages of cases for "Randy Moss"

more irresponsible garbage! Let's just keep up the diarrhea of the key boards here and bury one of our best players before he's accused/convicted of even a misdomeaner!

Va Pats Fan, do you realize comments like yours can end up in a newsroom in a minute? Even though we know NOTHING about the 2 pages you refer to...do ANY of these cases involve our R Moss? what are they? have they been resolved? Be careful about the comments you make on this board, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to protect our players until they are convicted....not add to the various rumors.

We all need to think before we post.
