Randy Responds

Does anyone else get the impression that we might have the largest female fan base?

Just listen to some of our posters.

I'm watching all the WEB sites, still nothing on ESPN.com

My point being, it there was anything too this, a big time reporter would already have all the facts and she'd be interviewed and on ESPN by now.

I have all the faith in the world that Mortensen and all his inside sources are working diligently. He'll have all of his inside info lined up for SportsCenter tonight for his usual sanctimonious speech with details from his "league sources"

Not sure what you mean by that

Regardless of what happened or didn't happen, this is really bad timing.

You know, as a woman, I hate to say this but I can't even defend that comment. I've seen many females pull this stuff in my lifetime, and the guy doesn't have to be famous for them to do it.
Amen to that. I personally experienced a little bit of this one time a few years ago.

I was on my way to Brigham & Womens (?) Hospital. My wife had a bit of a nervous breakdown, dealing with her son (my stepson) who was dying of a brain tumor at the time, and I was hurrying in. Traffic was heavy near the hospital, I wasn't familiar with the area, and needed to cross over a couple of lanes. I was nearly a full car length ahead of a woman, my turn signal on. I admit I made an error in presuming she would let me cut in front, but no, she rushed forward and I ended up ripping her side view mirror with my rear wheel well (my SUV vs her compact). Tehcnically, I was guilty; it was apparent to me she was willing to risk damage to her vehicle just to deny letting me cut ahead of her, and consequently I was put off and dealt with her quite curtly, but that's something you just can't prove, and it WAS her lane.

Anyhow, I get a call from my insurance company later. She told them I appeared a bit intoxicated, looked like I had a few beers, that she felt like a victim of road rage. She indicated she wanted to file an injury claim. What ultimately foiled her was that insurance companies can't just do this automatically because the cost of the damage to the cars (her ripped off side mirror, no apparent damage to my car) was well below a certain threshold. There just wasn't enough damage to have caused any injury. She would have to sue to accomplish this.

It all went away pretty quickly. The damage was so minimal there was no hike in my premium. Basically, she tried to soak this minor incident for what it was worth. I wrote her a nasty letter, something along the lines of "Can you say FRAUD?", but never mailed it.

I realize it seems like I'm damning women in general, but this could just as well have been a man. Neither did this carry any aspects of extortion like Randy Moss' case, it was just a simple money grab attempt, trying to take advantage of the insurance system.

first of all, in many states it is relatively easy (for good reasons) for a woman to be able to get a restraining order against a family member or significant other. in virtually every case, the judge will side with the woman, even if the judge has a high degree of certainty that the request is bogus or unwarranted. why? "just in case." under those circumstances, the order is usually lifted in a week or so.

second, given his statments today, someone should advise randy moss to shut the heck up before he does himself any more damage. i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but he didn't help himself this morning.

Wow. You seem to be of some off the wall thinking. How did he not help himself by saying that: 1) I know her. 2) She WAS a friend. 3) She tried to blackmail me.

third, given moss' statements, it's pretty clear that this woman didn't just fabricate a relationship with him and make up a charge out of the blue. he knows her and was close enough to her, given his statements, for him to have to say, effectively, that nothing bad happened. this was very bad judgment on his part. if the woman did try to shake him down, what was he doing risking everything by hanging out with someone like that????

Its very rare that you truly know someone when it comes to legal issues. He may not have known she was a gold digger. And, when he found out, he dumped her like a bad habit.

You seem to be doing a LOT of judging of Moss in your statements

fourth, he and we all need this like a hole in the effing head.

fifth, just waiting for the i told you so's to start from all of the mediots who have been eating crow for the past few months given what they said about moss early in the season.

Its a non-issue. Especially in light of the fact that no charges have been brought against Moss. None. Zilch. Zero.

i heard she was a chargers fan

And what would be wrong with that, son?

OTOH, it could unite the team more than they already are.

If I were a betting person, that's what my money would be on...

Randy didn't let the organization or his teamates down this season. They won't let him down now.

The media, on the other hand, has been somewhat chagrinned by his on and off field persona this season, so they may not be able to restrain themselves. Too bad players or fans couldn't file for restraining orders against mediots...Felger is home alone nursing a woody his perky wife the Wood had nothing to do with which will certainly last more than 4 hours....

Seems like the media is starting to talk about more, opening story on Mike And The Mad Dog right now.

On the field, this is a non-issue, imo it wont effect Moss or the Pats one way or another..by Sunday BB would've drilled the Chargers into them so much they'll be left with no room to think of anything else. So lets not get carried away speculating on what this means for Sunday..cause I think come Sunday morning, they wont be talking about the effect of this restraining order.

Now off the field, couple of interesting things. If the lady and her lawyer asking Moss to cough up money is true...then there is nothing to stand on, for obvious reasons. Also, if someone has been beaten up and been prevented for seeking medical help..you would think at least charges would be filed. Thats a huge red flag because thats the first thing a victim thinks about, they want to lash out and get back at the person..and its never done via a restraining order..its done with charges filed, period. The only time you see restraining orders without charges being filed are when they are preemptive.

Just kick him in the nads, in case he meant something derogatory.

LOL! I never get offended and I think I am a little. I'm not sure if he thinks it's a bad thing or not. I do know one thing, the female posters on here (PatsDeb, PatsChick, Bella*Chick etc...) get PMS far less than a lot of the male posters.

Anyone feel bad for Moss?

I know he should not have been in the situation, which he admitted, but I honestly feel bad for the guy.

He has tried to hard this season to be a good doobie. He hasn't been a distraction what-so-ever, and for something like this to come out at this time really sucks. Moss is my favorite player, and I am going to believe him or this lady.

That being said, I don't know the facts, but by Moss being professional and mature about it makes me feel more comfortable, and the fact that he talked to Bill about it and he is still playing football makes me believe him more. I would think if Moss had beaten this girl and Bill knew it, Moss would have been benched.

I think it sucks for Moss that because of his prior incidents, people will not give him the benefit of the doubt, when it is clear that he has matured since his Minnesota days.

Truer words have never been written..........

Re: Anyone feel bad for Moss?

I smell a monster game coming up.

Don't know if it's been mentioned here yet, but Jim Rome just said "coming up, that Randy Moss story". Faaaaaaccccccccccckkkkkkkk.
