The operative word was 'if' as in 'apologies if...' so if you took my original post regarding the Pappy's the way it was meant then I was not apologizing at all so bleep your unnecessary apology and a pox on all subsequent ones. As to the ill mannered child, his parents were miserable failures at preparing him for the real world but we can be sure his disrespect is mostly limited to internet tantrums. No doubt his demeanor is appreciably different when he interacts with customers at the drive-thru.

That dislike was a mistake, as you can see I undid it. In the future they'll be on purpose. Everyone of them.

That's a judgmental way of looking at it that might not account for the reality of why. Point being that about half of us (or more) simply are not capable of choosing a life partner when we're of child-bearing age. But the drive to procreate brings couples together anyway. So, marriages including kids that survive longterm either are just lucky, the result of mutual hard work or under agreement to remain together unhappily.

But it's not an easy match for someone who has a bit of class. You don't.

But if you or @lancerman want to say that **** to my face . Let me know. I honestly don't think you ever would but if you want to let me know.

That just tells me that you haven’t been in a whole lot of fist fights. Considering your age, it’s probably been years, decades even, since your last one.

I think it's *because* so many of us are incapable of choosing a life partner that when we do, we choose poorly. And who can blame us? People learn through trial and error all the time, making plenty of mistakes. Why would it be any different for marriage? It's often the first time a couple lives together for a long period of time which in of itself is a huge adjustment, but then throw in kids which is almost always a first for the couple and it's unchartered territory. People expect this to go universally well?

I found a support group while I struggled in the early days of my separation. There was recurring theme amongst us all: The red flags were always there, but we minimized or ignored them. Those flags grew into giant flashing red spotlights with loud sirens as the years went by and became too big to ignore. Ignoring those flags at the beginning was the poor choice we all made. We were too inexperienced to know better.

I know now, that's for sure.

    Regards,
    Chris

not lately, but in my developmental years in Southie, I learned to not be afraid to get my ass kicked.......and the idea that nobody wins a fight......I got my ass kicked by a dude, but I got 3 of his teeth and gave him 10 stitches to boot.......all I got was a bunch of bruises

Good thing you noted it was a dude and not Rhonda Rousey. So, what did you do with his teeth -- slip them under his pillow the next night or make a necklace? Also, how did you know he got 10 stitches? Did you drive him to the doctor or did he phone you to fill you in? Kind of strange you got only bruises from the encounter yet you say he kicked your ass ... How was the winner declared?

the fact that for some reason he let me off the ground so I bolted before he could finish me off.....he thought he would literally kick the **** out of me hence the bruises

the teeth were on the ground....I didn't have a chance to grab em when I saw my opening

it was 10-ish stitches.....word of mouth

it wasn't the only time I got beat up......everybody got beat up

the last time I got into a fight was 35 or so years ago in front of Blanchard's in Allston but that one was a team event....I went after the guy with a chain because if he got going with that thing , it was over for us......generally speaking, we got our asses kicked, but I got some free shots in on the chain guy because he didn't want to let go of the chain

I'm too old for that **** now.........there are some pretty f.cked up people out there

I’ve had a gun pulled on me twice. Once before an altercation and the second one after. Both were outside of a bar. The first one was back in ‘06-‘07. Guy was talking **** and then reached toward his waist band near his back. I just reacted and hit him with a straight right on his chin and knocked him onto his back and others that were around jumped on him and we wrestled the gun away. The second one was when I saw some guy slap his girlfriend. Me, being an idiot, tried the knight in shining armor routine. This kid was scrappy. Very sharp knuckles. I had a shiner and a fat lip afterward. But he was small so I eventually slammed him onto his back and hit him with a ground and pound. We left and a few minutes later, he caught up with us (in his car... girl he slapped in the passenger seat) and pointed what looked like .45 at us. The driver of my car slammed on the brakes and hit a U-turn at the intersection and we lost him. I stopped doing stuff like that after that night. I figure that the third time would be a “charm.”
