Premier League.

6/12/08

Home wins for Manu, just, and Arsenal. Away wins for Liverpool and Chelsea.
No change at the top then.

In Scotland, Rangers win at home whilst Celtic lose away to Hibernian.
Gap at the top is down to 4pts.

Liverpool doing their best to throw away the title again this season.

13/12/08

The top 4 teams, at the beginning of the matches anyway, all drew their games. Liverpool, as ScousePatriot has said, are doing their best not to win the title.
Arsenal now drop out of the top 4 and are replaced by Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa. It will be interesting to see how ambitious their owner, and Cleveland Brown's owner, Randy Learner is when the transfer market opens in January.
I think they can maintain that 4th place with a couple of top signings. We'll see.

In Scotland, the top 2 also both drew their matches.

20/12/08

Liverpool draw away to Arsenal. Chelsea draw away to Everton. Villa beat Fulham away. Manu did not play. Liverpool still top, closely followed by Chelsea.

Celtic and Rangers both win in Scotland. Celtic still top by 4pts. They play one another this week at the home of Rangers. I'll take a draw and keep the 4pt lead. :D

This season has become really weird, nobody wants to take advantage. If we'd have won the games we drew and had Chelsea kept their form up, Liverpool would be clear and looking very good.

We never do anything the easy way, never.

Pompey certainly get ahead of atleast 8 teams on that list, Portsmouth support is fantastic.

Sun 29th Dec 08

An emphatic win for Liverpool away to Newcastle, Arsenal win at home and Chelsea draw 2-2 away to London rivals Fulham.
On the Monday, Manu win at home. On Tues, Villa grap a late winner at Hull.

1. Liverpool 45pts from 20 games.
2. Chelsea 42pts from 20 games.
3. Manu 38pts from 18 games.
4. Aston Villa 38pts from 20 games.
5. Arsenal 35pts from 20 games.

Who would have thought after last season's relegation escape that Fulham would be playing for a place in Europe? Hats off to Hogdson.

He's done a great job but the league is that tight at the moment they could easily drop into the bottom three in a few weeks if they had a poor run of results.

W'end 10/1/09

Villa win again at home, as do Arsenal. Liverpool draw 0-0 away to Stoke City.
Game of the week saw Manu beat Chelsea with ease 3-0. Manu now only 5pts behind Liverpool with 2 games in hand. Rafa feeling the pressure?

Cup game in Scotland this week, but last week Celtic drew 2-2 at home whilst Rangers win away. Gap is down to 5pts.

Benitez only said what everyone thinks but we didn't ourselves any favours decalring war on United and then go and produce an amatuer display for 60 mins against some village side while United destroy Chelsea.

Still, are you watching Merseyside......yeah, from top of the league whilst United still have go and pick up points to catch up. Pressure is on them right now but if they win their games in hand it's gloves off till the end.

W'end 17/1/09

Chelsea win at home with 2 goals in the final 4mins. Villa also leave it late at Sunderland with a dubious penalty decision. Manu won the previous Wed night and also won on Sat, again with a very late goal.
On Monday night in the Scouse derby game, Liverpool drew 1-1 with Everton.
Liverpool's 5th home draw out of 11games. Stevie G scored his 11th league goal, more than Torres and Keane put together!
These results mean that Manu overtake Liverpool at the top on goal difference, having played a game less.

In the extreme North of Scotland, Celtic go down 4-2 to Aberdeen, whilst Rangers win at home, with the aid of a dodgy penalty and Falkirk going down to 10men.
Celtic are now only 2pts ahead.

In other news, Kaka, the brilliant Brazilian player for Italian club AC Milan, turns down a move to Manchester City, the other club in that city, which would have earned him £500,000 a WEEK, and cost ManCity a staggering £100,000,000. Yes folks, an eyewatering One Hundred Million Pounds!
In saying that, having visited both Manchester and Milan, it would take more than that for me to work in the NW of England!!!:D

Hail!Hail!

Tues/Wed 27th/28th Jan 09

Villa and Manu both win away from home on Tues.
On Wed night, Chelsea win at home whilst Arsenal and Liverpool both draw away.

On the previous Saturday, Rangers draw away at Aberdeen, whilst Celtic beat Hibernian 3-1 in Glasgow. :D
Celtic go 4pts clear.

W'end of 31st Jan 09

On Sat, Arsenal and Villa both record 0-0 draws at home. Manu secure a 1-0 victory. On Sun, 2 late goals gives L'pool a much needed victory over rivals Chelsea.
Manu 2pts clear of L'pool but have played a game less.

In Scotland, Rangers win at home whilst Celtic struggle at Inverness in a 0-0 game. Celtic now only 2pts in front.
Next league game is Celtic V Rangers.

W'end 070209

On Saturday, 2 goals in the last 5mins probably salvaged Liverpool's season as they win 3-2 at Portsmouth. Villa win again away from home.
Chelsea draw 0-0 at home to Hull City. This result culminates in the sacking of Chelsea's Brazilian manager, Scolari.

On the Sunday, Arsenal drop another 2pts, drawing 0-0 at hated North London rivals Spurs. Manu win at West Ham 1-0.

ManU.............56pts (Played a game less than the others)
Liverpool.........54pts
Aston Villa.......51pts
Chelsea...........49pts
Arsenal............44pts

No league games in Scotland this week.

W'end 15th Feb 09

No league games in England this week.

In Scotland, the top 2 send a nation to sleep in one of the worst games I've ever witnessed. 0-0 at Celtic Park today, both teams lucky to get 0
Celtic still ahead by 2pts. 13 games to go.

W'end 21/02/09

On Saturday, Manu win at home. Villa lose at home to Chelsea. Arsenal draw at home. On Sunday, Liverpool drew at home with ManCity.
With Manu winning their game in hand on the Wednesday, they stretch their lead at the top to 7pts over Liverpool.
With only 12 games remaining, Liverpool will need to win all their games to stand any chance of overtaking Manu.

In Scotland, Rangers win on the Saturday, whilst Celtic draw on the Sunday.
Both teams level on points, but Rangers go top due to having a better goal difference.

Now that Man U have won the Carling Cup, does anything think that they realistically could do the quadruple? I cannot see anyone catching them in the Premiership. Obviously anything can happen in the Champions League, but that team is so deep. I don't like Man U, but it would be an amazing accomplishment.
