They had no business beating Denver a week earlier. The Ravens couldn't do squat on offense until Talib got injured. Then the Welker drop, then the Ridley fumble.....

Although they shouldn't have been in the AFCCG in 2011, they should've won.
Manning choked. They benefited. Injuries happen

This game was so strange. When you block 2 punts, your special teams unit should be decent. Yet, that last play indicated special teams weren't special at all.

Brady getting sacked at the end of the first half and costing us 3 points was strange. The team is usually on top of the situation and knows what they have to do.

Gostkowski's misses came back to haunt us. I was afraid they might.

And yet, Gordon, Gronk, and Edelman and even Patterson made some great catches. Had we played even our B-game, we would have won. That's what makes the loss all the more frustrating. .

From the end of the game until about 7:30 the Patriots beat writers and analysts were declaring this team dead. Since the Steelers lost I have not seen ONE person saying "Well, today's loss didn't end up really hurting the Patriots first round bye chances". And even thought I don't live up there, I can GUARANTEE this point will be glossed over all week long.

It was a bad loss, mental mistakes and that gut-wrenching final play. But, in the grand scheme of the season, it really didn't effect us much (as of right now).

Belichick's defenses and his coaching at the end of games:

Important games:

SuperBowl 36: TD allowed with 90 seconds left, 55 yards in 21 seconds
SuperBowl 38: TD allowed with 68 seconds left, 80 yards in 1:43 minute.
SuperBowl 39: TD allowed with 1:50 left, 80 yards in 4 minutes, a double digit lead cut to 3 points.
SuperBowl 42: TD allowed with 35 seconds left, 83 yards in 2 minutes
SuperBowl 46: TD allowed with 58 seconds left, 88 yards in 3 minutes
SuperBowl 52: TD allowed with 2:21 left, 75 yards in 7 minutes

SuperBowl 51: First play on last drive, Devonta Freeman wide open for 35 yards, no one near him. Falcons in easy field goal range, gift the ball back instead of doing anything but what they did. Three kneel downs or three runs win the game.

SuperBowl 49: First play of last drive, Lynch wide open for 30 yards. Seahawks come within 1 yard and Butler makes a historic play/Seahawks make a horrible decision to throw in traffic needing a yard.

AFCCG 2006: TD allowed with 1 minute left, 81 yard with in 2 minutes

AFCCG 2011: Last drive Ravens march without any issue to the Pats 13 yard line, then drop a game winning pass/miss a 32 yard field goal.

2015 Week 16 Pats need a win to secure homefield vs Jets: First drive in OT, TD allowed, 80 yards in 2 minutes

2017 Week 15 ''winner gets homefield in the playoffs game'': Juju Smith Schuster makes a 69 yard run and the Steelers lose because their TE decides to make a stupid play instead of securing the catch/Ben throws a stupid Int with a secured field goal.

Peculiar finishes:

2007 vs Ravens undefeated season on the line, Hail Mary caught, but stopped a yard from TD.

2018 vs Bears, Hail Mary caught but stopped a yard from TD.

And today's new addition, the longest game winning TD in modern NFL history.

Without some appalling mistakes and drops from our opponents, who gave up sure fire field goals into sacks and interceptions, and Brady making a game winning or game leading drive in every single SB, our history would be very different. Our end of game defenses have been thoroughly outplayed and outcoached in the Brady/Belichick era.

It doesn't matter whether it's a HoF QB or your run of the mill Mark Sanchez, Nick Foles or Ryan Tanehill, with the game on the line, we rely on dumb luck/coaching to close out games.

Today was not an aberration, the type of play maybe, but the incompetence of the playing/coaching was not. Especially since it was the coaches who decided to rush 4 instead of 3, when there's absolutely zero chance of a Hail Mary pass so pressuring the QB makes almost no difference and playing a slow TE instead of the fastest defensive player of the team as the last line of defense.

It was like they just stopped. Also why rush 4 on that play. On a Hail Mary might make sense, cause you pressure the QB before people get deep. But on an obvious lateral play, you need tacklers - 8 is better than 7.
Likewise, why the hell did the initial defender go for the INT/PBU?? Let him catch it and put him on the ground. Game over.

Disgraceful loss. The rest of NFL fandom is laughing at us. This team has one more chance to show they have The heart to make a real run at the Super Bowl.

The rest of NFL fandom is laughing at us? Sure, maybe for one game. But 90% of them would trade places with us in a heartbeat, and a full 100% of them would trade their team's success for ours the last 18 years, and also the last 5 years.

9-4, 1st in the AFCE, 2nd in the AFC and lost to a division rival on a sloppy play and generally poor performance. The entitled generation clearly doesn't remember nor have they experienced what it's like to sit through a one win season.

Just so disappointing... We should be taking about Brady's huge day, Gronkowski resurgent game, expelling the Miami "curse".... But instead we have yet another debacle of a loss....

I’m over it already. This team needed a wake up call of historic dimensions to wake them from their complacency. Brady and Belichick both should be embarrassed by their roles in this loss. I’m betting on them to respond in a big way. I’m hoping we look back to the embarrassment of this game as the impetus for another championship run. This team is as capable of that as any of the other perfectly imperfect teams in the playoffs.

It's been 6 hours and I am still pissed. I am calling the coaches tomorrow and chewing them out and requesting a new kicker

I was thinking the same thing, that we needed a lost like this to finally wake the f*ck up.

Brady played one of his best games of the year.

Nobody got open in the endzone at the end of the 1st half AND end of 2nd half. That's 6 damn plays to score a TD from 1st & goal.

They should have felt like this after Tennessee...

Well...hogan was wide open on the play before the brady sack. Brady flat missed him.

The NFL is incredibly volatile. Anyone can win any game against any opponent under any circumstances. Losing a given game simply isn't an indicator as to the overall quality of a team.

With that said, it's obviously a horrific way to lose.
