Nah. What's Felger-level stupid is your comment on the issue. I've got nothing against the move, because I don't see any real downside. But, then again, I don't take it as a moral affront (or pretend to it as a take moral affront) when players with non-football character issues are signed by football teams. Others, however, do.
Bringing in a stiff, or even a JAG, is not a great move. It's just the bringing in of a stiff/JAG, in this case with baggage. It's the same crappy/routine, chuck a dart at the board move that teams make all the time. Now, if the stiff morphs into a player, you've got a win, and you can then say "What was a crap/routine move turned into a great move" and pretend that there was magical insight into why that particular stiff/JAG was going to make it when so many others did not, but where nowhere near that right now.
