Ehhh, politics would weigh into it. That's a distraction. BB is in the business of doing anything he can to minimize those. Besides, he doesn't really want to play football anyway. Why would he when can pull of the kind of coin he pulled with the Nike campaign?

If they end up wanting Kap and he agreed to come here, I doubt it would be a problem because he'd KNOW how the media is dealt with here and the importance that is placed on keeping any distractions to a minimum.

No, again, the reason Kap isn't a fit here is his football skill set. They'd literally have to implement a parallel offensive system to make the best use of what he brings to the table. A precision short passing game is NOT what he found success at. So why bring him here.

IF Brady retired tomorrow, THEN Kap becomes a more realistic option because, as the primary QB, an offense could be constructed to suit his skill set. But Brady isn't retiring so this is nothing but social media speculation and mildly interesting off season gossip. Which we BOTH wasted too much time commenting on. ;)

Kap isn't even in football shape, he hasn't played in 3 years. I could outrun him.

Doubt Kap risks showing off his ability/inability to play QB due to his ongoing legal battle with the NFL He stands to make more from that (doubt he'll ever collect much if anything) than playing.

If they were to sign Kaepernick, that’s it. I’d walk away.

    But you’ve been a fan since 81!

I am rooting for it solely for the comedy that would ensue on this board.

I realize that I am probably getting trolled by a guy with <50 posts, but I will retort.

    On your watch, since 1981:
    • They've drafted, and then cut, convicted domestic abuser Christian Peter.
    • They've drafted, paid, and then gave a long term contract to Aaron Hernandez, despite well known gang ties and various law infractions, including shooting a buddy in the face, with a gun. Oh, yeah, he killed a guy, maybe more than one.
    • Bill Parcells, in an effort to screw the Krafts, bailed on the team at the Super Bowl.
    • The two "gates".
    • The headset tampering thing. (which is effing awesome)
    • Dave Meggett
    • Lisa Olsen
    • Victor Kiam
    • Rod Rust
But you draw the line because they (might) sign a guy who peacefully protests chit?

    Just stop.

Kaep is too easy to scheme against

He is nothing without a dominant run game and defense.

I agree with most of the comments about Kaepernick being a bad fit for the Patriots on several fronts, but I got to admit, I'd take the AAF's words about Kaepernick with a grain of salt.

Mike Florio sums up things about Polian's credibility regarding Kaepernick here:

Pre-AAF, Bill Polian kept his Colin Kaepernick opinions to himself

Right now I'm thinking the Patriots being brought into this might also be another front in an NFL PR battle and we should just bloody ignore the noise.

The reason it would be a surprise is not his politics, but simply the fact that I don't think he can run this offense.

Seems like a great time to shake up locker room chemistry and create a total circus.

If the Patriots plan on signing a QB who hasn't played a single snap in years they could do much better than Kaepernick. Hell, why not just sign Joe Montana?

Why is Carter worried about our QB replacement being a controversial person when we are in the thick of a dynasty.

The only way I could see the Patriots interested:

    - We only need 52 guys and want to carry a 53rd QB for the scout team.
    - Kaep takes the vet minimum.
    - We only use him as the scout QB for when we face DeSahun Watson, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, etc....

We will always need all 53 players...the Pats rarely play with just 52. Kaep is not taking the vet minimum nor is he interested in being a 3rd QB, IMO (like RG3). We have no other use for him...no way does he become our 2nd QB because of the scheme fit...Hoyer is a better fit by far.
