"Their biggest weakness is evident right now, with the defense off to a horrific start. It’s more than just bad. Frankly, it’s historic. Through five weeks, the defense is surrendering 7.1 yards per play, which is the highest-ever number allowed by an NFL team, according to Pro Football Reference.
But wait, it gets better. The best offense of the past 20 years is undoubtedly the 2007 New England Patriots, who averaged 3.3 points per drive — the exact same amount of points per drive the Chiefs’ defense is allowing through five weeks. Simply put, this years’ defense is turning opposing offenses into the greatest offense our generation has ever seen every week."
LMAO
The Front Office and Coaching Staff Have Derailed the Chiefs Season - Zone Coverage
The Kansas City Chiefs’ dream of a dynasty is quickly falling apart. On Sunday night in Arrowhead, the defending AFC Champions were embarrassed by thezonecoverage.com
It's like drinking the nectar of the GodsChiefs Planet is a great read right now.
They took the torch and lit themselves on fireApparently, they took the tourch when Brady passed it to them and passed it back.
Is the Super Bowl loser curse real ? They really look like a different team from last year.
That being said, a lot of things can change fast in the NFL. But they really can’t afford to lose 2 more games this year, meaning they have to go 9-1 the last 10. Can they do it ? They certainly have the talent. But it really doesn’t look good for them. May take them several seasons to fix that defense, and the offense looks lost right now. Pretty shocking really. I always say, you just have to make the playoffs and anything can happen. But man that defense, oof.
Can’t wait to see Nick Wright tomorrow, gonna be incredibly enjoyable.
If he had a brain he'd have avoided Brittany's "baby chute" altogether. That chick is NUTS.
Oh no Mahomes is still elite don't get the wrong. I'm just stating he's turning the ball over the rate that Winston was. Not just INT but fumbles as well. I don't know why they keep trying to press the ball down the field. Defenses are literally dating them to run or throw shortHe’s got 18 TDs and 9 INTS. I don’t think that’s similar. I think Jameis led the league in INTs his last year in Tampa, yet led the league in yards passed and was top 5 TD passes, but still threw more INTs than TD passes that year I believe. The 9 INTs is shocking for Mahomes, but still a 2-1 TD to INT ratio.
The 3-4 Chiefs are tied with the Houston Texans for points allowed - 29.0 ppg - after seven weeks. Both are grateful to Brian Flores and the Dolphins for being worst in the NFL with 207 or 29.6 ppg allowed. (Compare that to the 3-4 Patriots at 20.00 ppg allowed.)
@venecol posted two weeks ago some great stats about how historically bad the Chiefs' defense was, and continues to be.
One look at their salary cap - Kansas City Chiefs 2021 Salary Cap - and you see $11.7 million in dead cap money, some ridiculous salaries at the top and a huge percentage of players earning less than $2M who they rely on as starters as situational players.
And it gets worse..., much worse. Patrick Mahomes is only counting for $7.4M against their cap in 2021. Well, kids, that cap hit jumps to $35M in 2022, and $46M in 2023! Can you imagine that?!? One player - $46M?!?
To put that in perspective, Brady was looking for $25M/year for two years fully guaranteed when he left for Tampa Bay. The Patriots said no, took a one-year hit and re-built in one year. The Patriots upside is enormous. The Chiefs?
Anybody remember the NY Giants after they made Eli Manning the top paid player in the league? The result was six different head coaches in seven years and a constant state of rebuilding.
