    Home owners associations?

I own a home and thank god do not have to partake in this racket.

If you have to abide by an association's rules then you do not really OWN your home.

If the Christmas lights stay up past mid February you can't call them Christmas lights anymore. You have to call them lights.

I'm bugged by most all roads in the State of Massachusetts. I just went looking for an address in Chelsea. 200 years ago Fourth street was one big long street. Now its had the whole middle section turned into some sort of medical complex. So there's two Fourth streets now and I was on the wrong one looking for a house number that was on the other one. They couldn't be bothered with renaming 1/2 of this disjointed street. That would make it too easy on outsiders I guess:mad:

For those of you who live in more geographically sensible parts of the world, there's hundreds of examples of this across this state.

You talked about streets, well I live in Las Vegas, and it seem Las Vegas Blvd is the divider. This means that even though its the same road, you have to look for the E or W on addresses.

Example: 2545 W. Tropicana, you have to be west of Las Vegas blvd to find it, because there is also a 2545 E. Tropicana. You also have North and South for roads going north and south. I haven't quite figured out where the dividing line is so I just get on the paticular road and hope for the best.

Well, I've had enough of Internet explorer 7, I started this thread because I messed up and clicked the update button and got ie7. It changed the look of my computer and I didn't like it at first. I tried it out thinking maybe I would grow to get used to it, but the more I used it the more I hated it. I just spent a couple of hours getting back to ie6.1. I uninstalled 7 and had to revisit a long list of sites just to get back all my links and most of my important favorites. I've finally got my computer back, on the bright side, i've learned something....

Never update unless you've got a fresh back-up, or you know exactly what your getting. :singing:

    Something else that bugs me....

TIPS I know waitresses, bartenders and certian others rely on tips as part or most of their paychecks, but going onto a coffee shop, sub shop, or just about any kind of shop I see a tip jar. What the hell is going on? isn't there anyplace left where I can just get my change back and not be expected to put it in thhe jar?

I know most people don't know this but if you go to a casino, whether it be Las Vegas, Atlantic City, or Foxwoods, dealers, like waitress , are tipped employees. I'm a Floor Supervisor now, and I don't get a cut of the tip pool but I think I should tell you that the dealer you've been badgering for not giving you the "Right Card" has no say in what happens, they just deal the cards, they have strict policies and procedures to follow, including smiling and being pleasent while the customers berate them endlessly to the point where any sane person would reach over and slap them upside the head. You don't stiff the waitress who spends 30 seconds with you while she takes you drink order, so please don't stiff the dealer who just spent the last few hours listening to the same stories and jokes he or she has heard every day for the last 10 years. And besides, tipping the dealer makes me more willing to give you a comp.

I played at Foxwoods for years. Then I moved to Vegas and played poker every day. Now I'm back here in NE and I play at Foxwoods again. And I know what you mean. I have seen seemingly normal and docile adult people go ballistic on dealers for nothing. It's the most bizarre thing. I can't think of anywhere else people would think they have a right to treat anyone (that is being very pleasant to them) like that. But, to the tip point, I only play poker and if I'm up I tip if I'm down I don't. That may not be fair to the dealers but, that's always been the way I do it. I usually play 4/8 Hold em. I've given dealers more than $5 after taking down a decent pot. I remember once in Vegas I took some friends who were visiting to a casino and I played some slots which normally I never do. I hit a 7s wild machine for $500. I gave the girl who paid me out $25. She took it without as much as a thank you and walked away. I wanted to go after her and take it back.

What bugs me is when I am running and I have to be on a main road for a short time. I run on the shoulder (when there is a shoulder), and I run facing traffic, like a good doobie. More often than not, traffic slows a bit and gives me some leeway. People are generally pleasant, since you know, runners and bikers have the legal right to be on the roads, too. Inevitably, some ******* comes flying along and almost hits me or sends me diving off into the brush. I never get a chance to look, but I guarantee you that bastard is fat and is too busy scarfing down McDonald's to pay attention to his driving. ****ers.

The reason I posted the bit about tipping dealers is because a lot of the people I've talked to didn't know dealers were tipped employees. Dealers start out at minimum wage, and here in Nevada thats $5.15 an hour. I understand that when you're "down" players don't usually think about a tip, but I've seen poeple win hundreds and stiff the dealer, then come to me with an attitude and demand a comp. I pretend to check the computer and if its close but not quite, I turn them down. If on the other hand they "take care of the dealers" and its not quite, I use my flexibility, and write it up.

Oh ya, if any who read this and go to casino's, your attitude counts. A-holes get the letter of the law, decent pleasent people get the benifit of the doubt.

And to you milwaukeebeers44, slot attendants get paid a decent hourly wage, and thats why they seem indifferant, I'm not defending them, I'm just telling you why customer service is foriegn to them.

Hey, your lucky....I've been clipped twice in my life. Nothing serious but enough to see parts of my benign life flash before my eyes.

At least where I am in NY there is a boardwalk along the beach that I now run on half the time though avoiding the strollers, bike riders, roller bladers, 80 year olds and the 5 people who have to walk abreast and not one move when you approach keeps you on your toes (so to speak).
