??? Is that a real person.

I knew who Nipsey Russell was.

Also putting great and rapper in the same sentence is never appropriate.

An impactful source of inspiration to me personally are songs by rappers who start their own record labels to control their music endeavor for themselves. There is a real sense of empowerment from forging ones own path and the pride they derive really comes out when they drop a few lines about it in a verse.

I don’t know his music incredibly well, but he was an independent artist and did well for himself. Unfortunately the trap takes another one away from this world.

    RIP

I hadn’t heard of him, but it sounds like many famous musicians and athletes were very familiar with him.

He was pretty well respected. Sounds like he was doing amazing things for his community. Really sad situation all around. RIP.

There have been plenty of “in memorial” threads on here for famous people regardless of whether they were associated with football.

As long as you posted this in every other thread about some 1970s movie star or performer who gets memorialized in a thread here then I guess I got no qualms with this post.

Like, seriously, deckhand #3 from The Love Boat passes and it's a 7 page boomer tear fest. So why is this any different other than the era and genre of art?

I heard he was openly beefing with someone. Not sure if it’s true or not. My hip hop game is much more limited, these days.

Same. I listen to a ton of rap (as in, it rivals football for my biggest interest) and I hadn't heard of him. But literally everyone in the rap sphere I follow on Twitter is super broken up about it. Really sad.

I miss the old hip hop although I now feel uncomfortable with every other word being the N word.

I had no idea who he was either. At first I thought I read it was Nipsy Russell but hed already passed.

Musically I still listen to Led Zeppelin and Motorhead on a regular basis so I'm not a good barometer for how mainstream he is.

I just loathe today’s rap music. I still bump 90’s early 00’s over anything past few years.

Rap, generally unintelligible and ridiculously profane. Another nail in the country's coffin.

Yea I'm not into it but I kinda like Ja Rule a little. Good rhythm to his songs.

I'm still stuck in the Straight Outta Compton era and a few years after.

On Saturday my 16 year old and I did a road trip to check out a couple of used cars in CT and I pretty much let her run XM but I was psyched when she kept it on Going Back To Cali by Notorious BIG.

You could just say, “It’s not for me.”

I’m quite sure there were Adults in the 50’s and 60’s saying the same exact thing about rock n roll.
