Rutger Hauer, ‘Blade Runner’ Co-Star, Dies at 75
RIP. While his role in Blade Runner is probably his most iconic role...and that last monologue one of the best in sci fi history, I like him most in Nighthawks with Sly Stallone and Billy Dee Williams. His Wolfgar was an awesome bad guy. That movie is never on cable anymore. Too bad.
Jesus you look at his IMDB and he....worked....all...the...time. 172 credits.
I had forgotten he was in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The Hitcher was quite the chilling movie for me
He was Anne Rice's first choice for one of the main vampires (I forget which) in her Interview With the Vampire movie, fyi & rip.
Yea she didn't want Cruise as Lestat at all.
So I posted without comment his famous lines on Facebook.
Freaked out relatives who weren't Blade Runner savvy who thought I was about to take the dirt nap.
Downside of being a geezer.
Not the worst of the downsides though ...
Had to have been Tom Cruise's Lestat. Can't imagine it being Brad Pitt's character as his was too young for the Hauer.
Edit: RW confirmed it above.
Less known but my favourite was "Wedlock" and "Split second". I remember constant rain and somber atmospher in "Split second" scared me as hell when I was young.
Terrible news to hear, always enjoyed him in anything he did. Man his IMDB is crazy dude had steady work in Hollywood for 50 years. My hat is off to the man sounds like he had a good ride. RIP
He woulda been good as Armand.
What a great actor he was . One of his movies that I always liked him in was Blind Fury. Looking at the the Imdb I had forgotten that he was in The Beans of Egypt, Maine, not a great movie but he as always was great.
Apparently the "Tears in Rain" speech was all him, if I remember right. He ad-libbed that sh1t. (Hearsay: if anybody can confirm, I appreciate it.)
