OT: LIV Golf

Totally disagree
Woods is "done" for all intensive purposes but his legacy will be forever linked with the PGA so a "delinking" via LIV would tarnish a legacy that took years to rebuild after whoring around with every hooker, escort, porn star and social climber who dangled their #*%& while wifey and kids were home baking Swedish cookies and listening to ABBA.
You also think Nicklaus took a hard pass on the LIV because of his competitive juices? The guy is the talisman of the PGA and would never circumvent the organization that reveres him so.
Severing themselves from the PGA for easy money was always a non-starter. Both get big money/no effort opportunities daily and they sift thru the silly and choose those that enhance their brands. LIV is a brand killer (for now)
FYI: Reported today Tiger is a billionaire

Norman on the other hand has been an opportunist from day 1.

Side note:
When I move to S. Florida years ago Norman was the big fish in the PGA and a huge presence down here. Ocean mansion , "Shark" boat company (tried to compete with Hatteras Yachts), golf course designer, buddied/whored around with Bill Clinton (while still in office) in Jupiter multiple times. Norman was a recent divorcee who hooked up with Chris Evert (used to see the two at my kids school parents nights). And the guy traveled everywhere in his helicopter. I probably saw it fly over head 40 times. I used to golf at a course in Delray and Norman would land his copter on the practice range and go drink beer with

I don’t disagree with your first point, but I factor that in with competitiveness as well. He wants his legacy. Believe it or not, Phil had a great legacy too, he could’ve easily chose to keep his. What’s the difference? Also, you can say he’s done, he might be. But you cannot discount his inner drive to keep competing at this point. He’s not doing it for ****s and giggles. He’s still trying to win

I think that’d be more of a reason for him to join, doesn’t have to play 4 rounds…just be a spokesperson and make a billion. He didn’t, I still think he internally believes he can win, Christ he makes cuts without being able to walk. His inner drive in unbelievable

Another reason why Tiger wants to stay on the PGA Tour is that Tiger is currently tied with Sam Snead for the most PGA tour wins of all time (82). So if he wins one more tournament, he takes that crown probably for good.

He is still 3 majors behind Nicklaus (15 to 18), years ago it was a forgone conclusion that Tiger would past Jack in that category. I remember Lee Trevino getting murdered when he was asked "what would stop Tiger from passing Jack" and he said "a woman".

Whether players participating in LIV Golf can play in PGA Tour majors moving forward. Both Johnson and Mickelson have said they intend to play in the majors. Each major is run by a different governing body, but no tournaments have indicated thus far they’ll keep out any golfers. LIV Golf participants are being allowed to play at next week’s U.S. Open. Garcia, Johnson, Mickelson and Reed are qualified for the Masters for life as former winners of the tournament. The bodies of the Open Championship and the PGA Championship have yet to comment on how LIV Golf affects future qualification.

If I was an established player I'd wait to see how this plays out. For me it would be all about the majors. Majors drive major sponsorship money and set your legacy. Especially if I'm a guy like Mcilroy or Speith who needs one for the career grand slam. Only 6 players, 5 in the modern era, have done that. So you're talking about legendary status and continued income long after you put the clubs down.

Now if I'm a borderline guy trying to lock in my financial future and they offer me even a couple of million in guaranted money I'm gone.

What took Bryson so long to join? Was shocked he was not first to join.

Was the contract for being a spokesman and not playing? Hadn’t heard that. Yes, he’s a competitor but I’ve watched him in the majors this year and after a few rounds his body is done.

What does this have to do with the Football or the Patriots?

I mean showing up and shooting +20 still counts as playing. It’s less rounds then he’d be playing now. The tour wants the name to associate, they don’t care how you play.

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak... Father Time is undefeated... Got lots more cliches if you want them!

Didn't we all?
After my (one and only) divorce, a lawyer friend said to me, "Bill, you'll survive the first divorce, it's the second one that will clean you out". I took the hint.

I think the PGA is in trouble. Now Reed?

Has anyone ever tuned into a golf broadcast or paid to specifically watch Patrick Reed? He isn’t Rory or Spieth

DJ has been the only name that means anything. Also if you’ve seen the quality of play from the first LIV event, there’s nothing to worry about yet. They’ll need a majority of the top 50 players to cause issues

Rory wins today in Toronto and throws shade at Greg Norman and the LIV tour lol.

Schwartzel won more money this weekend than he has during his entire PGA tour career.

That’s happened for a lot of golfers in the LIV field last weekend. At some point some of these guys just aren’t good enough to be professional golfers! We can’t feel badly every time we see that statistic. I saw the Hennie earnings stat and almost had a breakdown

Huh? You're saying that golfers that are part of the PGA tour aren't good enough to be professional golfers? Lol
