Yes I can't wait for Darkest Hour.
I remember sorta liking TFA because I thought the PT was crap. I thought RO was great. This movie has some major problems and I walked out telling my friends I was disappointed.
I did like some small things and details but overall I dont like the direction these movies are going in and its obvious where its headed given the very last scene.
I was at least entertained so I will give it that but it dosent do old school Star Wars any favors.
One of the worst Star Wars movies ever made.
Yeah I'm either hearing that it's watchable or that it's terrible. I haven't had one single person (outside of a complete nerd at my girlfriend's office party whose opinion on this I wouldn't take seriously anyway) tell me that it was great. I'm going to see it next week and catch it while it's still in IMAX with some friends, but my expectations are way down.
I have a couple friends that watched it and really liked it. There were actually people walking out of the screening I was in saying “wtf was that”. To each his own, I just thought it was pretty bad.
Saw it today. It was ok. I thought the first half was boring. Luke was really poorly used. The “legend” ends by projecting a hologram and then just dying? Very weak. He should have battled and killed Snoke and then had Kylo kill him when he was weakened.
I finally saw it. It was ok...
I DO like Kylo Ren's character a lot more in this go round than in TFA. The Rey plotline continues to underwhelm, and the rest was rather forgettable.
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
A New Hope
The Last Jedi
The Force Awakens
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
The Phantom Menace
I'm not really huge into Star Wars. I've never really cared about the franchise or had any emotional investment in the films. However, I do keep up with them and watch them all.
I thought this was a good movie. I was entertained the whole time.
One thing I've noticed about the age of social media and the internet is that there tends to be "momentum" for certain opinions. That is, a lot of people see friends or family posting something, and then let that influence their own opinion.
I think the hate for TLJ is a victim of that. In other words, if you polled people in complete isolation and asked them there opinion, I bet a lot more of them would say they liked it. That's of course impossible to do, because inevitably people have heard what others have said about it. People feel compelled to go with the "bandwagon" and "fit in" and echo things their friends and family say, and so there's this groundwell of dislike. Before they've even watched the movie there's already a preconceived bias.
I'm not saying this movie was a masterpiece, but there's no way you can convince me that this was as bad as something like The Phantom Menace. Also, I am not saying that everyone that dislikes the movie is part of the bandwagon. I do think this applies to a lot of people though.
