If they're signing Reiff I wonder how that will impact the draft strategy. Maybe we're not looking at OT in the first round. Or maybe we are anyway?
I think it’s likely they’re planning in taking one on day 1 or 2, but don’t want to be forced into taking someone at 14 if they guy they want isn’t there. And don’t want to be forced into making him an immediate starter, a developmental guy becomes an option. Kind of like how Nate Solder was pick #17 but was just the 3rd tackle in 2011. Of course, we had 2 legit tackles then (Light and Vollmer) vs. one potentially legit guy in Trent Brown and the rest maybe being stopgaps.

Throwing sh*t at the wall method at OT is not something they should be doing after last season IMO.

There are moves yet to be made for sure. They added a year to McCourty's deal which added enough cap space to cover all of the signings from the last few days, so they're still over $30M in cap space and they have about $160M in space next year. They're not just gonna sit around.

Veteran Starter w/Big Long Term Deal
Dalton Schultz on a deal around 4-5 million a year would be great. But guess he might be around 10-12
Draft a TE -it's a deep class. We're spending enough on the position with Henry, unless they want to run a 2-TE set, in which case, get a true blocking TE.
Also, I don't see Schultz coming in for 4-5/year as someone mentioned. Twice that+.

Don't know much about this guy...should be fast. Age ok. 2022 was a good year. And 2020 with 9 PD's / 3 sacks is nice.

Size of some of our safeties. They looking at him for some big nickel/ST’s play? There’s no way they would give him extensive play at MLB unless there’s some switch happening in defensive philosophy. A lot of these signings are blue collar/lunch pail signings. I’m probably reading too much into it, but are they trying to establish a new locker room for a flood of young talent coming in?

the base salaries and cap hits on these long term deals is very low in year 1 anyway, otherwise teams like KC wouldn't be able to sign deals like Taylor for 4/80
so even if the pats sign brown we would have enough for a good CB, WR or S

Pierre Strong.

Ty Montgomery is our Brandon Bolden type who can backup Strong and play special teams.

Not really a big need.

But depth is always a good thing, find another grinder late in the draft or an UDFA, or bring Damien Harris back on a team friendly deal.

Wrong.

Ty Monty absolutely ****ing sucks. Period.

Actually our RB group and safety group are our deepest and most solid areas on the team.. Ekeler good player but always injured.. ty Montgomery Is still on this roster.. either he or Strong Jr will be in that 3rd down back role..

I want Rham to be fresher during the season he is the bell cow..

To repeat:

Ty Monty absolutely ****ing SUCKS.

pass blocking effiency (sacks, hits & hurries / number of snaps):

Conor McDermott 96.5 44th/86
Riley Reiff 96.1 56th/86
Trent Brown 96.0 61st/86
Calvin Anderson 95.6 69th/86
Yodny Cajuste 93.4 didn’t play enough snaps to qualify

Similar to last year at CB they’ll be relying on rookies to overtake low cost vets sooner rather than later.
