Don't you feel like Sanders skillset would be way too overlapping with Edelman ? I feel like what we really need is a boundry receiver (ie. 'X') who Brady can go to when opponents crowd the MOF. Gordon was the ideal archetype for that.

Need someone who can run posts, digs or comebacks but is also perceived as someone who can threaten deep so clear outs are more efficient to create space for others.

I think anyone whos a legit outside threat and can create separation on their own would be a big help. Besides even if there is some redundancy with Edelman, Edelman has not been the picture of durability here. I see what you’re saying and I would still look to the draft for someone who can stretch the field better, but id gladly welcome sanders for the right price

I know he’s not a star, nor does he play heavy snaps, but I think A Butler is worth a damn... unsung, but watch some of the plays in the last few games.

No. A player who was CUT can be signed immediately. Players whose contracts have tolled, have to wait until March to sign with new teams. They can re-sign with their old one during that time.

    I will duck for flames.

There needs to be little improvement to the best team to the very best team in the NFL. If the injured and suspended come back, the team that won the Super Bowl would the best, certainly among the top 4 again. And yes, we do get to add a few more draft picks, expected the "usual" two or more contributors in 2019.

IMHO, the ONLY weakness in the playoff and SB team was at WR. In looking to re-sign or replace free agents, that is certainly up front as an issue. We WILL bring in at least 3 WR's.
Hopefully, they will be upgrades from Hogan, Dorsett and Patterson, our #2, #3, and #4 in the playoffs.

Of course, the issue is replacing what we have, re-signing or replacing our free agents. We do NOT need to look to splashes in shiny free agents to improve the team. We simply need to focus on bring back the very best in the NFL.

Demaryius Thomas will be released today. Patriots were interested at the trade deadline, but he tore his Achilles in week 16.

Given when he sustained the injury it sounds like his best case is PUP and mid-season activation. Not sure missing the entire offseason and preseason rehabbing is particularly compatible with integrating yourself with Brady / our offense.

But since McD has experience with him who knows. Should also be cheap.

He might be cheap if he signed now. I suspect that he will wait and sign when he is closer coming back. He was to be paid $14M this year. Clearly, he won't get near that, I don't see him as signing for very short money.

Actually, I think that the patriots are a good fit. He would be on PUP and come back to play for Josh who knows him.

I don't think that we'd use the cap money. I suppose that we could sign a very low contract with large NLTBE game incentives for each game where is on the 53, plus further incentives for production.

31 year old coming off an achilles injury that will prevent him from being part of OTAs and most of the preseason activities ? I don't know man.. that is a pretty bad combination of factors. I would not be surprised if he actually ends up being really cheap (or not signed at all if he expects too much).

His best shot might actually be to sit out and wait for whoever loses a WR late in camp or early in the season to ring him up.

Adam Humphries feels like the perfect Patriot to me. Adding him instead of Amendola or Tate would be a smarter long-term play.

Adding Tyrell Williams might be a useful deep, big threat for cheap, too?

Wow, I was just thinking 'he hasn't had a 1,000 yard season in two years' and thinking he might be undervalued for that reason. Guess not.
