That's empirically false.
Also, let's see how awesome he is when he's trying to play at 245 lbs.
They will combine for more rushing yards, receiving yards and TDs than Bell, and will cost $4 million less.
The first round label is -- the except for the option-- absolutely meaningless.
There is the set of blue chippers in the top 12 (+\- 5 spots depending on the year) and then the next 40-50 selections who are in the usual case solid starters. Some can grow into really good players if they land in the right place, most wont be a difference maker but give u enough snaps at a cheap price to be worth it.
And yet for whatever reason people give #1 and #32 the same label.
Minor correction: Pennel and Brooks (along w Bolden) will/do count in comp. formula - cancelling the 3 6th rd comp picks of M.Brown, Rowe, Patterson.
btw - option declined makes an UFA - as previously posted by @Kenneth Sims
At the moment Pats have 2 3rd comp picks. Pats will lose more qualifying UFAs in the next days so that might add more again.
But there's a long way in this game..
One WR name not mentioned could be intriguingly cheap:
has Garcon anything left after last knee injury?
His goose is le cooked.
Ok which one of you guys wrote this article?
Lack of receiver talent for Tom Brady an all too familiar script – Boston Herald
Or does Karen read the Patsfan FA thread?

I still can't believe he got a $23m guarantee. I could see $10-12m for a 31 year old wr but $23m???
It's mid March. Christ
You and your Conley....
Thanks for the clarification. After I posted it, it immediately thought “sh*t, I’m not sure that’s correct”, because I remembered that BB uses the “decline the option” technique a lot in order to maximize the Pats comp picks. If, however, I had spent another minute on Patsfans.com last night my wife would have smothered me to death with my own pillow.
Do you remember that microprocessor scene in the Departed during which Leo and Damon were nervously texting their contacts inside info without getting caught? That’s pretty much how I was writing that post last night.
Great find by Oliver
Seems like Dexter Lawrence in 1st round..
(I mean he even brought 390 lb Augusta to TC and when he sent him for a penalty lap they never saw him again..)
Exactly why I keep coming back to Lawrence in the draft, despite some reservations.
I am telling you,Pennel is a realy good signing. Very good run stopper with a tremendous force. Every time I watched this guy in Jets' uniform I liked his relentless effort. I hope he will bring is a lot of joy. BTW I still count on a DL taken highly on the draft.
Didn’t realize Timmy Jernigan required back surgery. If healthy, he’s be an intriguing pass rush option.
I like Wilkins more but if Lawrence is there....yowza
I thought they were masochists but both work.
