This kid gets it. The team will not have to babysit him.

He is 2 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier than Dan Koppen was. Plus, he was the Rimington Award winner last year. Can't understand how he lasted to the 4th round.

.....oops, there's the reason:

"Did not participate in any physical testing at the NFL Scouting Combine because of injuries to his left knee and both shoulders (medical exclusion)."

Gronk....Dowling.......Tyrone Mackenzie......Canon.....Easley.....Stork.....is there another FO in the NFL who has more confidence (rightly or wrongly) in medical science than the NE Patriots?

(Of course, the reply may be 'Is there another franchise that suffers as many IRs as the Patriots year in and year out?').

Stork has all the makings to become a fan favorite, from the cool huddle break to the maturity and of course the look.

.

LOVE the huddle break!!!!!!!

Based on where they pick in the draft every year, taking on some medical risk seems like one way for them to snag top-tier players.

I love almost everything English. I even love marmite.

I embrace most change. I don't shun it.

And I hope to continue to always evolve as a human being and a species.

Aluminum or aluminium.

Sledge or sled

Aeroplane or airplane.

Its all just part of the wonderful diversity of the world we live in.

But the center position in American football should never, ever, ever be referred to as the centre position...

Yes Canada, I'm talking to you too..

Totally agree! You might risk confusing the Quartreback!

I'd guess that's part of the front office plan to try and offset how late in the rounds we pick each year.

Great breakdown on Bryan Stork if Brady consistently get a pocket like that on gamedays we will be unbeatable. Seriously we are not even using Dobson the way we should, whe we do this Offense is going to be sick.
How should the team use Dobson?

There is indeed. I used to associate this approach with the Chargers under A.J. Smith, but today I'd say the 49ers take the lead.

SF is totally willing players who are not just "injury risks" but actively injured players: Michael Crabtree, Tank Lattimore, Brandon Thomas, Tank Carradine, etc. They quite explicitly shop in the "scratches and dents" department to pick up bargains, even if the player is expected to miss his whole rookie season.

I have a feeling that if we paid nearly as much attention to other teams' draft tendencies as we do the Patriots', we'd find that drafting players with significant injury histories is pretty routine.

EDIT: here's an article on the 49ers willingness to "redshirt": http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap2...t-forefront-of-redshirting-trend-in-nfl-draft

As I recall, SF, Seattle and the Patriots were the three teams showing the most obvious interest in Easley before the draft.

It is a 50/50 move but when it works out it usually nets an elite player. McDaniels draft D Thomas late in round one when he was in Denver using that approach.

Well there was no doubt Seattle wanted him. When the Pats took him Seattle's war room looked someone pissed in their cheerios.
Is it too late to trade?
