....for the Pats is NOT the Indy-SD game, it is the SF at Seattle game Monday night.
As bad as the 49ers have been, they are only two games behind Seattle and one game behind Arizona. Someone from this putrid NFC West will be going to the playoffs, and only Seattle (4-4) and Arizona (3-5) can keep the 49ers (2-6) out of it.

Seattle lost a big lead last week against Cleveland and I really don't want to depend on Arizona taking the conference.

A win by Seattle this week would go a long way towards completely burying the 49ers, but a 49er win leaves them possibly tied for 2nd.

Go Seattle! Beat SF! That top-5 pick is critical for the Pats' continued dominance.

A high pick is nice but why is it 'CRITICAL' as you say for continued dominance to get a top 5 pick?

The Patriots could still be a dominating team even if they pick 32nd next year (no I know the 49ers are not going to win the championship but made as a point)- One player is not going to make or break this team next year unless your name is Tom Brady

Okay maybe "critical" is the wrong word to use here, but top-5 is the range where you can get elite talent, or trade the pick for several lesser picks. This looks like a strong draft year, and a top-5 pick will be used by BB and SP to great advantage.
