I don't care how short Thuney's tenure was, he was one of the best. Far better than Mankins imo.
Mankins was better, had a nasty streak to him and was regarded as one of the best G's in the NFL making many Pro Bowls (7) and All Pro teams (One 1st team and five 2nd team). Thuney was a very solid G though.
I like Light but he consistently got beat by Jason Taylor, Aaron Schobel, and Freeney.
Spot on! You have a good memory - especially Schobel.

his one year with the Pats was elite. if he had more time at that level of play, he would have been 2nd to Hannah.
have to disagree on Light. We wasn't Jackie Slater but he was consistent. Everybody has matchup problems individually. I would take Light any day. Especially today.

pretty sad that none of you remember Shelby Jordan....one of the biggest gaffes in Pats history letting him go for peanuts to the Raiders...where he ANCHORED the Raiders Super Bowl O line in XVIII....a massive man with massive talent.

1. Hannah
2. Morris
3. Armstrong
4. Gray
5. Mankins

Same guys as on this list, different order:

We've been spoiled with so many great players in our history; it's amazing how most other NFL teams were really crappy for very long stretches while our longest losing streak is seven (7) seasons.

He joined Haynes, Hasselbeck and Plunkett getting a ring with the Frauders that year. Give Davis credit.

Holloway? Really? 3 of your HM were miles better than him.
I know playing next to Hannah can make you look good, but he did make 3 pro bowls in a row during the time Anthony Munoz had one spot locked up. Never one of my favorites, but I thought he deserved one of the top 5 spots. Opinions vary. I realize that anyone who remembers his performance against Richard Dent in the SB, would not put him anywhere near this list.

Brian was good. XX was a team loss, not for lack of effort though.

Brian Winters for his year here at RG was dominant, almost the level of John Hannah at his best.

Leon Gray played at a level slightly better than Bruce Armstrong.

Matt Light deserves to be on the list. Considering what his size was and his struggles with Crohn’s disease, the level of his achievement is massive.

Jon Morris was before my time. So I am not qualified to put together a list.

For brief spurts Stephen Neal had a level of athleticism at RG that was truly otherworldly.

Joe Thuney will retire as one of the greatest LG’s in nfl history. A huge loss letting him go. To the Chiefs of all blunders.

I really think the knee blowing out on TE Lin Dawson changed the complexion of the game. It occurred early. Coach Ray Berry was on to something in attacking the ‘46’ defense using the TE.
For me, that loss was only painful due to how it started.

Pats kick off. Bears go on O and fumble, Pats recover and wind up with 3 (after a rare Stanley drop which would have been for six).

Then the wheels came off, the gas tank exploded. and the shrapnel shredded the Pats sideline.
