Latest temps for Sundays game

current from NWS for Foxboro, MA

Sunday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 19. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 6.

Isn't rivers form north carolina and merriman from maryland. These guys have ALL seen freezing cold weather and have played in it. Stopping Michael Turner and our oline in a cold pound it out game will prove verrry difficult.

Maryland is more comperable but NC? It doesn't even snow in NC for the most part. Plus as others have said, it doesn't take long before you get used to warm weather. I live in Virginia now and even though I spent 20+ years living in Mass I now feel like anything in the 30's is cold as hell.

I know this could be a OT thread but just wanted to post these incredible numbers:

In Green Bay at gametime: Around -5 degrees Fahrenheit!! "Frigid"..(Real feel ~ -24 F !!!!) Holy Sh*t thats freakin cold!!!

They are getting snow/sleet off and on the rest of the week too. That should break records for games played ever!

Frigid is right. Single digit temperatures is bad enough (remember the Divisional game vs Tenn?) but negative temperature and now just bundling up doesn't mean its not potentially dangerous for the fans.

Do you have a link? I'm seeing single digit temp but not in the negatives.

Here's the wind chill chart, looks like for the Pats game it could be a WC range of 5 above to 10 below depending on whose wind predictoin you go by.

wussies. Up here we get stretches where its -40F with the windchill and as low as -50 occasionally. Typically we are around -20F with the windchill through Jan-Feb. but its a dry cold

Do they allow space heaters in the stadium?

hopefully the wind dies down. A frigid afternoon would be great for the pats and horrible for those sun-loving chargers. Wind would be the great neutralizer.

Ice Bowl II.....this will be nasty.

It's gonna be real cold. Cold affects the football, can make it feel like a heavy rock when it hits your hands. Hopefully the winds aren't too strong at least. That would just make it worse.

High wind, shorter routes. A strength of the Patriots, oh ye of little faith. Our passing game will be fine, especially since Brady won't be forcing the long ball in Moss's direction like he did with the Ravens.

This will be much worse for the Chargers than the Patriots. Rivers, if he even plays, will be a mess.

My worry is the Patriots defense against the short pass. They have played that region fairly loosely all season, but with wind the long pass is basically out. BB will make adjustments. He has a game plan for tornadoes, hurricanes, tidal waves.

you forgot that he has a gamepan for earthquakes too. I agree, the Charger trolls are forgetting about the impact of cold weather. This will be like a decade ago when Tampa Bucs were going north every year and getting crushed in the playoffs vs GB, Philly, Giants. Chargers will have a difficult time acclimating to holding onto the ball in the cold weather, just like Colts of 3-4 yrs ago

42-13 Pats.

I don't remember the cold drastically affecting the Raiders in 2001 during the snowbowl/tuck game. They played pretty good.

I also don't remember Tennessee being subdued by the cold in the playoffs against the Pats. They played pretty good too.

I doubt the cold will have as big an effect as some Pat fans are hoping for....but we can always hope.

Well considering that LT is the best RB in the past decade and the weak point, by far, is the Pats run game is the run then the Chargers should hold that advantage. Also, considering that that running the ball holds the advantage then the advantage may be fit for the Chargers. Not only that but considering that your 2 ILB's are older and not as good as they were 5 years ago and our defense, although not as good in previous years, are still top 4 in the league. Then you add in the size of our WR's and the fact that the shotput motion that Rivers throws tends to get less effected than the overhead throwing style of Brady in the rain and snow. The more and more I think about the weather the more and more I like the Chargers to win. I would say that if there is heavy winds (20 +) then I would say the game would come down to 50/50 chances. Not bad in my opinion.

Yea Jax tandem of Taylor and MJD were running it down our throat for all of 65 yds. last week. What a pathetic run D from Pats:singing: Check your facts before posting :snob:

How did you greatest rB of the decade do vs Pats the last game in wk 2. Need help jogging the stat memory bank or was there another injury excuse for wk 2 massacre ?

Being delusional is common to SD(Stupid Dolts) fans

A gimpy Rivers will be lobbing 3 pointers. LOL a sight to behold.

That game was not very cold but snow, there is a big difference.

This is from a local forecast:

Sunday - A few passing clouds otherwise ineffective sunshine. A gusty west-northwesterly wind to 15-35 mph. Temperatures will hold stready then fall a few to several degress in the afternoon. At Gillette Stadium as the Pats host the Chargers for the AFC Championship, it will be frigid with a temperature drop from near 15 at kickoff to about 10 when time runs out after 6pm but it will feel like several degrees below zero due to the stinging wind.

It sounds like wind will be an issue.

The weather, especially wind, may hurt the Pats passing game somewhat (e.g. Jets game) but it's going to have a much more drastic effect on San Diego; how long has it been since the Chargers played in cold weather? I'm surprised that nobody in the national media that I have heard or read has even mentioned it. They talk about Green Bay, but since they're playing the Giants the weather shouldn't be an advantage.

The National Weather Service is saying 70% chance of snow Saturday night, and then on Sunday day highs in the low 20s followed by Sunday night highs of 20 and lows of 5 - 10, with winds about 10 - 15 mph.

I see that weather in the 2nd half after the sun goes down giving the Patriots a huge advantage; think back to the playoff game against Tennessee a few years ago.
