Probably, but the point is the "offers" SF gets are null and void unless JG thinks the situation is better than the one he has in SF.Oh, I know. My guess is tha the's chomping at the bit to get out of SF and back to NE.
1. Not many could afford it if they wanted to, and as your question hints, few to none would want to.Who wants to spend $25M for a player who has a history of not being durable?
Why would JG take less than what his contract says he's entitled to?
Would SF really cut him without getting anything in return?
Why wouldn't teams just wait to see if SF cuts him or trades him during the season at a lower price?
Jimmy's agent is Don Yee, I think he's not going to offer to take much of a salary cut if at all.
I agree. BB has certainly not moved on from Jimmy G and I believe he wants to win a Super Bowl with him at QB. It would be the big FU to everyoneYou and I and many have moved on from Jimmy but I am not so sure BB has. I just see my scenario as one of many possibilities, and one I could see being in line with BB's thinking.
I get the guy I wanted here all along. It cost me a 2nd, I get a top 10 player at 15 because of the QB run in the top 10 and still get one of the guys I was probably going to draft in the 2nd or 3rd round any way(specifically one of the 3 you mentioned).
And I still have all my future ones if it doesn't work out. Makes sense to me and seems like BB typical line of thinking. Give yourself a chance to win now without sacrificing the future.
With that said after the FA period we had, I could also see him saying we signed a bunch of 26-28 year old kids I expect to be here for the next three plus years. So I am willing to part with a future one or two but for the right player.
The teams interested know if they wait they can get him for nothing, it's in SF's best interest to get whatever they can now, I'd be happy with a 3rd pick.Probably, but the point is the "offers" SF gets are null and void unless JG thinks the situation is better than the one he has in SF.
I think WAS is still one of the worst run franchises in the league, a hard no.
I think DEN could be a "maybe" situation, who knows, maybe he likes recreational weed.
Yeah, that's why things are going nowhere.

The contract seems like the big hurdle at this point. I’m not sure how it might work. We cannot trade for his current contract, but a restructure would have to be agreeable to BB and JG. I’m sure others can tell me how we create a contract for another team’s player...
It would be totally out of character for BB to let a raging hard on for JG make him commit major draft capital and contract terms to someone who has shown he can't stay on the field.I agree. It's a very QB-needy league, betting on yourself and getting to free agency can have some spectacular returns. It's also reasonable to assume Mr Yee has briefed Jimmy G on the more disadvantageous bargaining position he winds up with getting cut.
To get there, I think JG would need to wait till SF cuts him, then he signs the one year prove it deal, then he gets another bite of the apple. If this goes down, it will be a Revis format agreement.

Problem is JG is getting franchise QB money, he's not going to roll over for a team friendly contract that gives us more than a year of control and locks him in to a figure that fits our salary cap going forward. It'd be a one year prove it deal with him able to walk away at the end. Probably not too different than what Cam gets now. Would JG sign that? Who knows? He risks getting injured yet again and then his value would drop to sub-Darnold level. The teams interested know if they wait they can get him for nothing, it's in SF's best interest to get whatever they can now, I'd be happy with a 3rd pick.
He has made $75m the last 3 years. He won't exactly be starving.Problem is JG is getting franchise QB money, he's not going to roll over for a team friendly contract that gives us more than a year of control and locks him in to a figure that fits our salary cap going forward. He might be better off letting himself get cut, sit out a season and strengthen his body, then get the Kirk Cousins bidding war going, rather than resetting his salary to a low level, hoping he doesn't get injured yet again, and having to find teams that would bid him back up to franchise level.
QBs with his upside just do not make the free agency market often, he could be in for a huge deal in a year's time if everything falls his way. The tricky part is figuring out in advance if the market would support such a deal, and how to get him there without injury.
The past is the past, now it's all about how to get the next $75M deal, which IMO is definitely at play going forward. He has made $75m the last 3 years. He won't exactly be starving.
I don't know if sitting out a year is going to improve his value. Sitting out a year because you are too scared to play because of the injury risk isn't going to exactly make teams feel better about the injury risk.
