You’re the caretaker here. You’ve always been the caretaker here. I should know. I’ve always been here.

Maybe someone should "correct" this offense. And if Josh tries to prevent it, someone should "correct" him, too.

Show me that TD/drop passes ratio from Sunday's game @ Pittsburgh. Also show me those obscure clutch stats from that game as well.

It boggles my mind that there are people who still believe letting Amendola walk away was the right decision, especially in the predicament the Pats' offense has been all season long.

It's basic math.

Edelman's catch rate in 2016 was 61.6%.
Edelman's catch rate in 2018 has been 68.5%.

This means that Edelman has been catching MORE of the passes thrown his way THIS season than he did in 2016, "drops" notwithstanding. His 2018 catch rate has been right up there with his catch rates in 2015, 2014 and 2013 (when he first became the starting slot guy).

Edelman's catch rate against the Steelers was 63.6% - still higher than his 2016 season averaged. He caught 7 for 90 yards, which gave him a higher YPC than his average and a higher yds/tgt than his average.

Edelman dropped 1 of 11 tgts and produced 90 yds. White dropped one of 7 tgts and produced 25 yds. Gordon dropped 1 of 2 tgts and produced 19 yds.

Edelman had less than 1/3rd of Brady's tgts, less than 30% of the Pats receptions, and still produced more than 1/3rd of the Pats receiving yds.

But sure, if it make you feel better to blame Edelman for all the Pats woes this season, or even in that one game, based on his drops, go right ahead.

BTW - It's been explained many, many times that the Pats really couldn't have afforded to give Amendola the contract that Miami did. Sorry you missed the memo. And, on the slim chance that you were even wondering ...

Amendola 2018 - 13 games .. 52 rec .. 509 yds .. 1 TD
Edelman 2018 - 10 games .. 63 rec .. 711 yds .. 4 TD ... PLUS 7 rushes for 83 yds

What is your deal lately? Crying about how the season is doomed and taking jabs at posters for remaining positive.

Also, how would the scenario you just described be about a fairweather/bandwagon fan? Everything is sunshine/rainbows and remain positive about the team instead of whining that the sky is falling and we're doomed? What you just described is exactly that of a fairweather/bandwagon fan: whining that the GM/coach sucks, our players are overpaid/suck, and not giving the benefit of the doubt to the team that has repeatedly shown they can overcome adversity and make a run.

That makes zero sense and is such a lame comment.

Yes, this team has issues. But it's pretty clear the NFL is wide open this year. The Pats have proven they can beat the top teams this year - hell, they have the best record against teams with winning records than all of the current playoff teams. Forgive us for still having faith that a team led by BB/TB can figure it out and put together a few good games and beat a rather mediocre playing field.

What I think it basically comes down to is it shouldn't be controversial to observe that the Patriots are a bad football team right now, and barring a dramatic turnaround that probably would've already happened if it was coming, they're not going to do anything in the playoffs. None of us want that to be the case, but it is what it is. It's an annoyance that simply observing that will get you labeled a bunch of dumb **** by a particular subset of posters here who almost never have anything meaningful to contribute to discussion anyway because they're fundamentally incapable of acknowledging the team's flaws.

Acknowledging that we're watching a team with little talent suffering from 4+ years of bad drafting that's resulted in an old, inconsistent, poorly constructed roster doesn't make you a bad fan. It makes you an honest observer of reality, and if you're pissed off about it because it amounts to wasting one of the few years we have left with the GOAT then... well, it should piss you off. Yet the people who've observed that have taken so much crap here that a lot seem to be fed up with this place in general.

Actually, many of us watched the failing NE passing attack early this season without Gordon.

Hogan stretching the field :) ....good one

A better question....What have you been watching?
Hogan Dorsett and Patterson can combine to provide a deep route presence. The bread and butter(aside from moss) has always been <10 route tree. Remember 14 catches in super bowl, remember Burkhead being a legitimate receiving threat before injury last year. Edelman needs to step up so does Gronk, but that's what the playoffs are about. There is enough talent for Brady and McDaniels to sit down and figure out what will work. Not to mention Sony's mid season spurt which would resurface if we play KC. I believe they will figure it out, band together, and peak.

Oh. well, at least he didn't quit during the halftime. Best luck to flash. It was fun watching him playing for us.

Yeah, it's always weed, smdh. Per the CBA the league and the union are bound to strict confidentiality. When it comes to the substance involved so the only word we get of what substance a player got popped for is the player, his agent or media speculation so naturally the substance is weed, because no one gets excited about weed. Think about it, a player gets popped for weed everybody just shakes there head but let that same player get popped for crack and the fans would lose their ish with him.

IIRC, Gordon't reinstatement agreement with the league prohibits his use of alcohol in addition to everything else. As far as we know at this point, he might have failed his test after having one beer.

The season is over. That's not crying. That's just calling it like it is. They can't stop the run, they just lost their #1 wideout, they're having trouble protecting the 41 year old QB. Should I go on?

Also, how would the scenario you just described be about a fairweather/bandwagon fan? Everything is sunshine/rainbows and remain positive about the team instead of whining that the sky is falling and we're doomed? What you just described is exactly that of a fairweather/bandwagon fan: whining that the GM/coach sucks, our players are overpaid/suck, and not giving the benefit of the doubt to the team that has repeatedly shown they can overcome adversity and make a run.

The type of people that have trouble coming to terms with the fact that the team has holes and has fallen back to the pack are usually those who have a vested interest in the team primarily or only because they're winning. AKA front runners or bandwagon fans. I saw it in Jacksonville this past year with all of my Jags fan friends. They barely batted an eye about football (outside of fantasy football) until that team went on a bit of a run last year. In the offseason and through this season up until about the middle of the year, you couldn't tell them anything. The team was a juggernaut, they had no holes, in Coughlin we trust, depth wasn't an issue, Taven Bryan was a force to be reckoned with, Westbrook and Cole were going to wreck the league and they didn't need to worry about Robinson or Lee, etc. It's the reason why, when you see people take long absences after a tough loss like the Super Bowl last year (and I can name names if you'd like), they're typically the loudmouth homer variety.

To put it simply, there is only one reason why someone would go to the lengths that many around here do to avoid admitting the team maybe isn't that good.

It's not wide open. Every team has its own holes, yes, but many of them in the playoff field aren't as big as New England's. Stopping the run is the biggest of them and it's the reason why Belichick has traditionally built his defensive philosophies around it. If you can't stop the run and your offense can't put up points, you're toast.

Does that make it better?
Throwing away your career to have one beer?

I hope he got more for his money than that.

Josh Gordon's career is pretty much defined by his uncanny tendency to always do the dumbest thing possible at the dumbest time possible. This is just what he does.

Just another chapter in the books.

I’m glad they tried with Josh Gordon. Pretty sure we all knew this was a possibility but nontheless, They gave it a two way try and they missed on both sides.

I wish Gordon all the best and say f football in comparison.

Pretty sure there are just some posters here who have lived in Pleasantville their whole lives, who have never been around, associated with, were exposed to these people/environment.

Good for you and the island you live on.

I'm not reading 12 pages of hand wringing...who is replacing Gordon on the roster?

Dorsett and his speed obviously takes his place in the starting lineup,,,RB is set...curious to see which way they go

Patterson's role in the offense seems to have expanded over the last month-plus as well, could see him running more deep routes.

Ohh...and this is not welcome news for Sony Michel/White/Burkhead.

Man we were money on that pass rush.

The offensive line is doing their part, gotta get those backs out in space, use our damn quickness..we have done that so often in the past.

Count me in for more Dorsett.

Think they won't load up that box now...wideouts are all getting singled across the board, Oprah style..."you're getting singled...and you're getting singled...and you're getting singled..."

Well on the bright side glad this happened before we could possibly give him an extension.
