Wow.. you have shefter yapping his shtick about the trade to SF... Right Adam ., It's kinda obvious now... The situation dictated the trade of unproven backup... Ok got it.

Nope... Every talk show picks it up like hindsight 20\20;, shoulda woulda kept Jimmy.!! Aka clipboard Mario... "Why not franchise and trade him?". --- this one makes me LMAO. Right hold clipboard for another year at 24mil...

The only hindsight critique worth discussing IMO , is why not play your backup more. ? How many 4th quarters did Brady play all the way with big lead..? If backup played more his value would have been higher. He could have shown more .? The flip side of this is he could have sucked in those situations too , you don't knowo_O .... Lol

I don’t think it’s that they traded him but rather the disorganized process and low return they got back for him. It has now been described as essentially a fire sale and total lack of building any market for the trade. Really couldn’t get at least one conditional first round pick in case he hits playing time incentives or gets a pro bowl nod this year? I don’t think a lot of teams would have had a problem with that type of trade if they indeed got their franchise quarterback, but those teams never got a chance to make an offer for JG.

If you don’t think there were problems with this measly return for a potential all-pro QB then you are drinking too much Kool Aid. Patriots were dysfunctional and not aligned with the Brady succession plan and it cost them. Even the best mess up sometimes. I’m over it but it bothers me people won’t acknowledge it.

I continue to postulate that one of the main reasons there was bitterness last year is because the trade to SF was a calculated move by Belichick to reduce Brady’s future desire to leave the patriots for his home town team. In a few years the 49ers may have been an intriguing option in free agency for Tom but by sending a potential franchise quarterback there, Brady loses one of the teams he might want to go to in the future.

You must be referring to Schefter's latest report saying people within the organization "regret" trading Jimmy G. I didn't know it was a group effort. LOL.

What they meant by franchising and trading him is what they did with Matt Cassel in '09.

That's an interesting theory, but I don't think that's the case. Don't be shocked if you get blasted on here with that take. Lol.

Apologies for the provocative title.... ;). The point is this dumbass ongoing hindsight by people who forget the situation was dictated... Including the trade value , because JG had not played 2games yet and was injured in his second game.

The other part is Brady was mvp last year. He knows how to maintain his body. He's smart. He wants to prove the stuff he believes in is valid. All this means he's really good. Much better than JG.

Maybe this thread can be a week to week comparison of Brady's play vs JG who is now a hopeful franchise player making more money...o_O. Lol

Schefter didn’t say (repoet) people in the organization regret the trade. He said he thinks maybe some might.
That turned into articles written saying Schefter said people in the org have regrets.

All the QB's lately are dubbed great after one good season. As if you can extrapolate the rest of their careers from a few games. The QB position is like a tide chart, lots of highs and lows. That is why Brady so special, he is consistently great year in and year out.

Schefter was wrong about the whole situation. It was the browns and two draft picks and then it was no trade. People seem to accept his word as gospel but It’s really just opinion pieces:
