Umpire Jeff rice joins referee Ben Dreith in the Patriots Hall of Infamy.

Umpire rice overruled Side Judge Greg Meyers who was within 3 yards of the play to call Pass Interference from 40 yards away, against Samuels in the Divisonal Playoffs, January 14,2006.

A chicken bleep call, it swung the game in the direction of the Broncos and in many people's opinion should have either not been called, or gone the other way to Offensive Pass Interference. But it was the height of Chutzpah to over rule the Side Judge who was right there, and presumably had a better view of the mutual jostling on the play and threw no flag and even counseled no foul in the officials conference.

There was obvious movement of the Broncos first Field Goal and that was a call that the Umpire should have called, but somehow didn't. It should have nullified the FG and caused a re-kick from five yards further away.

But Umpire Jeff Rice didn't miss assisting in calling 5 early movement penalties against the Patriots, so his eyesight can't be totally myopic.

Welcome to a form of immortality and the Hall of Infamy Mr. Jeff Rice.

Referee Jeff Triplette at least has the argument to make that there was no clear compelling evidence that Champ Bailey fumbled the ball out of bounds from his right hand when it was his left foot which contacted and knocked over the pylon which is part of the goaline. I beleive Quantum Physics says that it IS POSSIBLE for an object the size of a football to "tunnel" through a physical body like Champ Bailey's and pop up and hence outof bounds to his left. The probality is somewhat small though requiring the expiration of the life of several Universes to happen however. You get an honorable mention vote to in the Hall of Infamy.

Dreith and Rice, Rice & Dreith. It even sounds like the Shyster law firm of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe !
