I still think that I haven't completely come to terms with the fact that Brady is no longer a Patriot, but I had a question for you all. Does this mark the end of the Dynasty Era?

I don't say this in a pessimistic way, but when I think of the "Patriots Dynasty" it's attributed to the sustained success of both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. In your opinion, is this a new era? Or does the dynasty continue as long as Belichick is still in charge?

It is definitely the end of the best era of any coach/QB combo in the history of the game.

In terms of the dynasty, Bill has to build 3.0. The beat goes on.

We need to have Stidham step up if it's to continue. Even then so many things have to work to make a Superbowl. A dynasty is achieved by very few teams. How many false start dynasties have we seen over the past 20 years? A team here or a team there has a short run of a year or two but then they're right back to the middle or worse. I dont think some people realize how special the Pats dynasty has been. Sustaining that kind of dominance for 20 years I dont think can be repeated. Not even close.

Tough question. I would say it's over and we have a chance to start a new dynasty with BB. On the other hand, BB has been the head of the dynasty for the past 20 years and as long as he's there it keeps going...

Did the Qing dynasty end when Germany bombed Pearl Harbor? Nuff said.

Has there been an NFL dynasty that spanned multiple QBs? I don’t think the 49ers count, too long between Montana and Young championships IMO.

In the minority, but I’ve always seen this run as three parts :

    First dynasty 01-04
    VG non championship years 05-13
    Second dynasty 14-19

I think if the Pats have another 3 or 4 seasons of double digit wins that it will ultimately be considered to be part of Patriots dynasty. Or if they have a couple down years but win it all in say 2023 that would be fitted into this run as well. I think most people consider the 49ers run/dynasty to be 1981 - 1998 even though their last Super Bowl win was 1994 and they has already been surpassed by Dallas in the early 90's.

I am in the 1 dynasty camp for the Pats as they remained the best "program" in the NFL throughout even when there was a year or two when another team was clearly better. (2002, 2009 and 2013 were probably the only years where the Super Bowl winner was clearly better than the Pats) Their winning percentage in any 5 year stretch is one of the all time best.

I don't much care for the term dynasty. There's nothing hereditary about this (a Steve takeover notwithstanding), as I imagine roster/staff turnover is a very tricky thing for maintaining continuity and stability, even with a good system in place. In any case, the TB/BB era was special, and I don't expect to see anything remotely like it again.

I do think that as long as BB is around the Patriots will remain relevant. If he can scrounge up our equivalent of Steve Young and squeeze out another trophy or two with him, I'll call that a bonus.

My vote would be RLKAG :ninja:

LOL. No its not. Lamar hasn't won anything. Mahomes has one ring and already appears to be injury prone and is going to get a fat contract that will severely limit the team being able to build a contender around him.

This is my favorite way of pointing out how special the TB/BB run was. The Steelers may share 6 Title status, but the Pats edge them out by having done it with one head coach and one quarterback. Crazy.

Hell, if they came out with commemorative apparel on that theme, I'd get it in a hot second.

As great as belichick is you still need a QB. If stidham stinks it will be over until they get a franchise guy. I don’t think stidham being average will help this team even with a decent defense. You still have to score points in this league.
