They might as well just forfeit the game if that's the case.

No idea and I wouldn't believe a lot from the injury reports. It just depends how bad of an MCL sprain it is; it certainly could keep him out.

I still can't believe neither came back into the game.

LT says his knee injury isn't serious yet he didn't go back in.

I guess nothing should shock me. We've seen Dillon go out. When is the last time a player gritted it out like Emmit did with a separated shoulder?

if rivers doesnt play..they have no chance

Well to be fair, we don't know what the trainers and Norv thought about the injuries. They get the first say, it's not really up to LT or Rivers.

I was scratching my head over it too, believe me, but it's always tricky with player injuries and maybe the trainers told the coach it was too risky.

Why? Rivers has been playing really well, but Volek did the job when he had to. The dropoff from Rivers on two gimpy knees to Volek is not much, in my opinion.

It's a huge dropoff.

I'll give you that but for LT to say his injury is nothing serious and he'll be ready to go is crazy.

The NFL has changed in that regard that guys are benched if they are injured which is probably smart but you don't see guys grit it out anymore.

Why is a huge dropoff? Rivers on two injured knees in the cold over Volek? And Volek looked good enough to me on the TD drive.

Well Gates gritted it out, but they knew the extent of his injury. They probably don't want to put LT in there if they're not exactly sure what's wrong, and if it'll get worse if he goes back out.

Plus, even though LT says it's not serious, we really don't know. He's saying it's not, but they might not be 100% truthful when it comes to talking about injuries. He's definitely not going to say "there's no way I'm playing, I'm too hurt."

I'd be shocked if either of LT and Rivers didn't play on Sunday.

For a mildly sprained MCL you would expect a missed week or two. In normal circumstances you would expect Rivers and Gates to miss the game so they can be back close to 100% in the next few weeks; even in the playoffs I could see that; however with them playing a team that scores so much they almost have to try to play. If Tomlinson is out, that hurts but Turner can clearly get them through a game with a quality performace. Volek and no Gates, though, gives them no chance.

So I think they pretty much have to try with the Super Bowl on the line - although maybe our shoddy games vs. Feely and Boller will make them figure Volek is OK I wonder how the chilling temperatures affect knee sprains.
