The honest answer is YES. But you're not going to get that from IBWTers. BB passed up on Lamar twice for players that flamed out in short order. "Sony won a Super Bowl" blah blah blah... he and 50 other RBs could have replicated his productions.
No true blue fan of Mac is going to answer that question honestly either. Lamar's an awesome football player. Can he improve as a passer? Of course, but he led the NFL with 36 TDs and a phenomenal 9.0 TD percentage. So he's capable. And he's not had above average WRs in his career either.
The other (unfair) knock on Lamar is his postseason record despite a 500-yard performance. He's only 26, he'll have many more chances to improve on his postseason record.
His injury history is a concern but he's healthy right now and should be 100% for the 2023 season. Lamar's upside and impact is well worth the risk.
I doubt Mac has many "true blue" fans around here, but plenty of us want to see what he possibly can do toward making that happen. Anyone who claims they already know is just guessing. Signing Lamar would mean overhauling the offense to suit his skill set, foregoing the draft of two potential starters and giving up on Mac. Also, it could require bleeding more talent to accommodate his cap hit. All for a running QB who already has missed time getting injured running the ball and likely will again, is an average passer and not the sharpest knife in the drawer. High risk, POSSIBLY short-term high reward, tremendously expensive in more ways than one. No thanks.
