I root for the AFC with very few exceptions. It goes back to the original AFL days when the NFL ridiculed our teams and wouldn't play us for years. Thankfully, the Jets and Chiefs shut them up for good with back to back wins in 68 and 69.
I can't root for the Indiots though. Not after they took part in defaming the greatest QB ever and also after they purposely tanked a season to get Andrew Luck.
They also tanked games with a legit chance to go 16-0 at the end of the 2009 season to keep the Steelers out of the playoffs and put the Jets in. I can still see the stunned faces of Manning and Jeff Saturday as they were pulled from the Jets game. Afterwards their loser GM (Polian) actually had the gall to step in front of a mic and use the Pats loss in the 2007 SB as his reason for tanking.
Btw, Polian's also the same clown that used his influence on the competition committee to have the rules changed to help stop Belichick's defenses against Manning and create the mess that we now have in the NYFL.
I can't remember ever pulling for an NFC team as hard as I pulled for the Saints in the 2009 SB. I cheered every step of the way on PEDton's pick six that ended that game.
I also wouldn't root for the Ratbirds either. Not after they participated in the character assassination of Tom Brady. It disgusts me to think that they and the NYFL would celebrate a piece of crap like Ray Lewis while trying to tear down a guy who the NYFL should be celebrating for his work ethic and character.
I would probably also now root against the Steelers to give the Pats a chance to overtake them in total SB wins.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Any thoughts on those?
Eww, no. Neither please.
If Pats lose it would be interesting to see Nick Foles win his second super bowl, you know, just to affirm that the universe makes no sense and that life is meaningless.
For as long as I can remember a loss meant not only losing but having to watch the Steelers, Ravens, or a Manning team get a chance to walk away with the Lombardi. So essentially I’ve rooted hard for the NFC in each Super Bowl for the past 20 years.
Obviously no one here can be a real fan stomach the Colts/Irsay, but what about the Chiefs or Chargers? Would you potentially be rooting for an AFC team this year, or be neutral at the least?
So if the Patriots don’t win, then...
I would like to see Philip Rivers get a ring. He’s been a better QB than Eli and arguably than Roethlisberger, but he’s had so many crappy teams and disappointments.
I would also like to see Andy Reid finally get a ring, as he’s a very underrated coach and probably the second best of this era. He’s had to fight in the playoffs with Alex Smith and Donovan McNabb. The Chiefs have “put their time in” and been a perennial contender for years now as well, and I typically root for teams like that to get rings (rather than fluky luck teams like the Giants who are totally unworthy of their titles.)
Thoughts?
I think we can all agree the Colts are #32 of 32. Despite the actual players and even coaches not being that bad, the franchise will never, ever redeem itself for its cowardly actions many times but especially in January 2015.
I would like nothing more than to have them get their hearts ripped out in Foxboro in the AFCCG. Last second heartbreaking TD by Brady sending them into a tailspin. Maybe Irsay would just end it and rid the world of one less billionaire douche.
Rivers is a punk. Remember him mouthing off to Indy fans back in the 2007-08 playoffs. Why in your opinion is Rivers unlikable? I like him,he’s a competitor
We aren't going to lose, I am going to be extremely optimistic and say my prayers.
That being said, I don't like Philip Rivers. I don't know if this makes me sound like a jerk, but I'm tired of the media anointing him "Greatest dad of all time", just because he has 8 or 9 kids. And he's managed to "be such a great dad all the while playing football at such a high level".
No they aren't bad mojo. In fact, they might be good. We have one every time the Pats make the playoffs and they won five times so far.
For everyone of these losing threads we have five that says we will win, so that offsets some of the bad mojo. Imagine if we didn’t think about losing, we may finally end up blowing some teams away.
