Should be fun regardless of the outcome. Right now I’m keeping my expectations at 8-8 with the right to adjust as the season goes on.
It’s interesting that we get to go back to the past and possibly watch McDaniels Denver offensive scheme be reapplied. With a better qb I add. Still remains to be seen what they are really gonna do but I’m excited nontheless. I‘ll love the Brady led offense until the day I die but if he’s not gonna be here I’m moving on to something fun and exciting with Cam. It probably (surely) won’t be as good as we’re used to, but so what? 20 years is more than anyone should expect.
Love the secondary, I’m thrilled for the young LB and de hybrid guys like Wino, Uche, River etc. Regardless of the seasons outcome, I think they improve a lot this season and going into the future that bodes well. Still sad Hightower opted out but I get it. The experience for the young guys will be immense.
Oline I’m comfortable with. Not 100 percent without Dante and a proven right tackle, but theres talent there. I’ll be very mad if they can’t make strides in the running game. But they did improve over the last 5 games when they got healthy so thats a good sign. Still want to see better though.
Defensive lines scares the crap out of me. Without the training camp and preseason we pretty much have no idea. No idea if they have anyone that can set the edge, if they can stop the run consistently? It’s a big question mark for me and pretty much one if not answered is going to sink this team’s chances of making any real noise.
Kicking game will sort itself out. I’m not too worried about that. However, if this team is struggling for wins and moving the ball, I’d like to see something crazy like just going for it every 4th down from the 50 to the opponents endzone. It’s been discussed in a statistical sense for a long time. It’s not been tried at a pro level and probably for a reason. But it would be interesting.
Anyway it’s good to see some normalcy with the idol thoughts thread back in the forum. I know it’s a lot of work on your part Ken but I hope you do one every week. It will be great to follow the growth of the team through these. Even if they get slaughtered it’s still part of the team building process.
