I know it's Clayton flapping his gums but for Spikes to get a 4 game suspension for leaving the scene of an accident is just plain crazy logic.

Suspending a player who isn't a player...hmmm, interesting...

Remember Mike Cloud? Remember Brian Tymes? There were suspended while not signed and later signed with the Patriots.

Yeah, the player can be suspended even if he is currently a free agent without a team.

In the case of Spikes--who knows? I can see anything between 1-4 games.

I don't recall these abuses of power being too common prior to the signing of the 2011 CBA. I think it's safe to say if the CBA were under negotation now, the NFLPA wouldn't be so willing to accept the commissioner having absolute authority.

I thought he was an idiot from the start. He was sticking his nose into players business and pulling out these arbitrary punishment much like now, at least that. my recollection.

Beside, he made a mess of the negotiations and would have failed if he didn't ask Kraft, who was tending his sick wife, to help out
