Good Breakdown on Easley's Game vs. Indy

He's good, but I really don't think he'll be that good. Donald was producing from day one in the NFL, plays in a much more aggressive defense and doesn't have two potentially dodgy knees. Easley might end up being very good, but Donald is close to potential JJ Watt levels of good.

For example, here's Donald dropping into man to man coverage on Jimmy Graham. Are there any other DTs in the NFL that can do that?

Why would you ever take your best DL and drop him into coverage?

Seems like a dumb strategy.

Deception probably, though usually I would think you'd have him drop into a zone for a chance at a pick (like Jones almost had against the Cowboys). Dropping him into man is strange.

I don't know about first step, but he and Shane Ray were certainly the quickest to the edge. But not many could do what Bud Dupree could do:

I'm curious as to what the difference is between those two traits? Is it just a better feel for the snap count?

I know it's Collinsworth, but he said at one point during the game that it seems like Easley has been getting better and better every week it appeared to him.

Collinsworth was right. As Easley is getting healthier and healthier, he's becoming more of a disruptive force. If the defense can get pressure on opposing quarterbacks without having to consistently blitz, they'll be set for the year. Easley, should he remain healthy, gives them that threat.

Film: Dominque Easley is a One-on-One Terror

Another solid game from our pass rush. Chandler Jones had 2.5 sacks I believe, and looked great throughout. But I think Easley had an even better game. He seemed to affect Luck an awful lot. Encouraging and exciting to see.

This was Easley's best game as a Pat. We finally saw that elite footwork and quickness. We finally saw him use hands off the line as well. If he plays the way he did on Sunday going forward our D-Line can be scary

True Donald is overall the better player. What I wanted to express, but failed to be precise enough, is that Easley has the genetic skillset to be a better interior rusher than Donald. Of course it depends on health but in a way that's true for everyone.

Anyway, in the end who cares about comparisons.. he could be a key cog in the BB machinery..

To fool the QB. I think it can be a useful strategy to do every once in a while(like once in a game or something like that). The Patriots have done the same thing. But we usually do it with an end, and with zone coverage.

Nice that D. Easley is coming around showing that Burst that warranted a First Round Selection. I would love to see both Easley and Akiem Hicks rushing on Third Downs. That gives us Power - Speed and Beef on the inside. We now when Healthy have a Good Front 7 on the verge of being Great!

Keep an eye on Hicks. On the Gore stop he destroyed his man.

Dumb Bill Belichick was doing it with Chandler Jones against the Colts.

I consider 'first step' as an ability to react to the snap whereas 'quickest to the edge' is the ability to bend the edge or getting past the OT.

Easley is a cool cat

I loved this sack from Chandler Jones. Explosive bull rushes from Easley and Collins clear the space for a stunting Chandler Jones whilst blocking off the LG. The triumvirate of Collins, Jones and Easley is a freakishly explosive, strong and athletic right side of the DL. I hope we see much more of this from BB and Patricia.

Edit: sorry but that didn't come out as I hoped. Click on the first link (pic.twitter) to see the sack.
