Pigskin Tastes Like Sausage.

The tragedy of the game is not the contracts or the 'harshness' of the business, it's the life-altering injuries. A lot of these players pay a life-long price for the game they love, whether or not they get the payola. He mentions Trent Green's injury and how they're looking to get him back on the field, probably before it's wise to do so. Ted Johnson and his concussions -- IMHO he was smart to listen to his doctors.

For all the one-sided whining from Borges and the "I told you so's" from Felger, Ryan makes a real point.

Garbage. Players know the risks yet THEY CHOOSE to play a COLLISION sport. Go ahead and poll how many of them would play the sport for 50k a year just because they LOVE the sport. If they're that worried, get out and go play baseball, or work in coporate america like like many of us do. There's a handfull of players that are in it for the love of the sport

If tomorrow, Deion "Fragile" Beanch tears his MCL, ACL and is done for good, too bad, but hey he knows the risks. Then he can go work 8-5 at coporate america and b**** about his salary. Let's see how many days he can holdout for then.

Boston Globe editors to Bob Ryan: "...Since Borges is our designated Patriot's Bad Guy, can you fill-in this week with a piece as our Pat's Good Guy for balance?....

Can I read one article from an old school Globe scribe that doesn't criticize the game of football systemically, or the fans of new england, or the dastardly patriot organization? They're subconsciously whining because they have to cover football in September for the first time. Go, put on your pink hats, grab a glove and catch fungoes in your backyard if you miss it so much. Thank heavens these guys are a dying breed.

Hey tough guy, bet you're the first one to sue your company if you slip on the ice at the front door.
