I mean, who needs an AR15 when you can get this?

I was thinking of a 20mm rifle, but now I think I'll check the truck for loose change for this bad boy.

All I'd have to do is buy my own island, declare independence, and I'd have the world's 20th largest combat air force.

    Pretty simple...

I’d buy it in a heartbeat if I had the dough. Post WW2 they sold surplus everything to the public. Guys own Mig 29s and other fighters today so who really cares. Only FAA qualified pilots can fly them so I really don’t see the harm.

Welp, we don't have politics here anymore, so that's good.

I guess individuals with that much cash who want to murder people can run for office or something... on the other hand, being a rich f*** isn't any sort of guarantee.

You don't need your own personal military.

You do need to have schools, offices, theaters, concerts, and the like, that are safe from various gun nuts. And by the way, don't get triggered, no pun intended, by the phrase "gun nut." Every time there's a shooting, the "responsible gun owners" go into a paroxysm of angst over mental illness (which is quickly forgotten once there's a storm or something). They're the ones concerned about gun nuts, not me. It's just that they throw their hands in the air and say oh well, some people are nuts, and here they have guns. What can you do?

Adding F-16s to the mix hardly sounds like a good public safety play.

I'd doubt the legality of any such sale, but I'm an optimist. Maybe it's a private sale loophole. That said, where did the private buyer get the F-16? Actually, if you're selling it without any actual ordnance, I guess it's conceivable that there is a loophole... you just buy stuff that goes boom elsewhere.

You could so run the distribution lines, with all the rival cartels futzing around with helicopters...

So Much for no politics here at PF

common sense says its not easily purchased nor operated, not matter how many video games you had played

not worried, its an interesting non story, politics aside, but a gun nut or a particular religious nut willing to bring on armageddon isn't going to happen

items like this should be scrapped and not surplused , im sure the few thousands it will bring isnt going to make much a difference in a billion dollar budget

    /end of rant

That is an old plane. Avionics/capabilities are nothing compared to D model or better 16s. Guy in Vermont does or did own a MiG-21 capable of over Mach 1 in afterburner. They aren’t a dime a dozen so no harm comes from it. If people have the money let them have the good stuff.

You can go over to Russia and pay to fly in the backseat of a MIG. Not a relic box either, but a fairly modern aircraft by Russian standards.

    Gotta love those Russians.

Even if you bought the Falcon the cost of maintenance, fuel, etc would out the roof.
