Saw this come through my feed, pretty crazy:
He is 100% correct. I know for a fact I would have played much much differently if I wasn't covered in literal body armor.My friend is a rugby dad and he's convinced that there would be less injuries in football without helmets/pads and from-behind tackles.
His argument is that safety equipment encourages more risky play and people using their helmets as human missiles, people hitting way harder with their padded shoulder, etc.
Without the pads, the tackler has to be careful with his body too.
I don't know if his argument is right, but I thought it was interesting.
