Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

Ok, good points.

But if we don't hear about follow-up felony sex trafficking arrests I'm gonna be annoyed. I won't lie, I am suspicious about the sex trafficking angle. There's varying levels of coercion and there's definitely an undercurrent that suggests any woman who opts for sex work is being directly or indirectly sex trafficked. I also don't trust cops very much, I've seen too many "this guy who had a baggie of shake was actually a kingpin" type **** from LE.

I mean, even in the commie circles I run in, there are a lot of debates over whether the proper policy for sex work is legalization or decriminalization and there are different views of this among sex workers themselves. Legalization sounds better but in the end many feel they're just trading a pimp for a boss and the experience of sex workers in jurisdictions where it's been legalized has not been particularly good (albeit bad in a way that many blue collar workers are exploited as opposed to the issues with it criminalized). And there's a question of whether anyone would want to sell sex if they had any other option, so is it coercive by nature? (I have friends who have done porn out of their own free will and have gotten really ****ed up by both doing it and the industry as a whole even though it paid well and was better regulated, too, so it's not just prostitutuon).

I don't know the answer to any of it, but I think it's clear there's no silver bullet answer.

They've won 6 Super Bowls with Bob. It's not like hes the second-coming of Mike Brown.

And I didn't know that Rob:rolleyes:...your buddy Bob doesn't have a prayer Defend him all you want with the few other lemmings he's an Idiot plain and simple.

"Mr. Kraft was said to have patronized a spa called Orchids of Asia, in Jupiter. The police said Mr. Kraft visited a spa in Jupiter twice, dropped off by a driver."
Do they have actual proof that he did something illegal there?

Don't think they would just make up crap to embarrass a billionaire who has flesh-eating lawyers on speed dial. The county/town would go bankrupt paying out damage for libel and slander.

You come off as trying to frame it as if Kraft went there with having 100% knowledge all the workers there were indebted sex workers

It does not matter if Kraft knew or not.

Well, I didnt know is not going to work here.

Bart Scott on WFAN is calling for the Patriots to lose first round draft picks over this, seeing as though that's the only way to make the Patriots feel some pain. Just fining or "suspending" Kraft (a billionaire) won't do anything so it's got to be something like the loss of first round draft picks.

I mean there's stupid and there's Bart Scott stupid. And yet, would ANY of us REALLY be shocked if the NFL did something like that? Honestly?

It's already been explained in this thread that this is not possible.

If the women didn't speak English and weren't allowed to leave, lived and slept in their massage rooms, and serviced ~8 clients per day, then this sure seems like 'real' sex trafficking based on what we know so far. Plus the fact that this whole investigation/sting started because the Department of Health received a tip that they were cooking their food out back behind a strip mall, again because they weren't allowed to leave.

I understand defaulting to skepticism and support it, but there are enough facts out there about this case that I think we can have a pretty good idea where the trafficking element of this story is heading.

The fact that sex trafficking has been an epidemic for decades doesn't make it any less ****ed up.

And IMO it's significantly worse for a billionaire to be involved, because he had tons of options for paying for sex, many/most of which would elicit zero judgment from me. The amount of money that would convince damn near any stripper, ****tail waitress, or woman at club to just say to hell with it and give him what he's looking for is throwaway pocket change to him. The price to ensure you're engaged in prostitution with a willing participant is basically nothing to him, but he just didn't care enough to pay it. Instead he decided to go get a $70 rub and tug at an asian massage parlor where none of the workers spoke English. That's damn near every sex trafficking red flag rolled up into one.
Blame the people who ran the business and recruited these women with false promises. They’re the real bad guys, here.

Blame the culture in both countries for fostering an environment where paying for extra service is acceptable—no, encouraged. Blame the cops for knowing about it and allowing the sting operation to continue in hopes of luring a big fish.

Blame Bob Kraft and his old ass for not being smart enough to pass up the allure of firing one off when presented the opportunity, but let’s not start with the “he definitely knew that he was involved in sex trafficking” stuff. That’s pushing it.

The police are preparing Krafts arrest.

If this wasn't a sports board, I'd happily slap you around about how this stuff works with the law. As it is a sports board, I'll just tell you that mistakes happen, evidence can be incorrectly interpreted, and a host of other problems can come to light.

The sly old fox!

Sorry, the thread is pretty long and I didn't see that. In a world where Roger Goodell can pretty much do whatever he wants, why should I believe that this is "not possible", especially if the other owners are on board?

I'm not defending the choices he makes in his personal life but I will defend his ability as owner of the NEP.

Thank you, R. Kelly, for taking the spotlight away.

The police have video of Bob Kraft.

Honestly, yes, I would be shocked. Draft pick fines are for football infractions. You deal with massive off-field infractions like this by forcing the owner out, Donald Sterling style. Moving forward, this is no longer Bob Kraft's team. The only question will be whether it's Jonathan's. (My guess is yes.)

They might take in $1k a day. They do not take it home. That money goes straight to the pockets of the people in control of the operation.

The deal in NYC typically $200/session. The girl usually sees 10 clients/day. She keeps 1/2. The house takes the other half and pays security, the phone girl, and the cook/cleaning lady.

I know this from being a lawyer in NYC (not a client).

No, but the guy has been an embarrassment since Myra died, and while for the first few years I was hesitant to pass any kind of judgment since grief works in really strange ways, I think we're well past the "he really needs to be out of the public eye" stage of things, and I think we were there even before this bust. The guy's clearly got some issues to work through and the longer he does so in the public eye the more he undermines whatever image and legacy he believes he and his wife built in better times. If this leads to Robert stepping aside and Jonathan taking the reins, I think that's probably for the best.
