Of the other dynasties:

Pittsburgh won in 1974 with a 10-3-1 record

The Niners won in 1988 with a 10-6 record, only getting in the playoffs on tiebreakers after finishing in a 3 way tie for first in their division. (2 other NFC teams finished 10-6 and didnt make the playoffs)

The Packers won in 1967 with a 9-4-1 record.

The Cowboys won their 3rd of the 90s after changing coaches.

The other dynasties have won the SB in seasons with less than impressive regular seasons (Dallas was 12-4 that year so maybe they dont count).

I think it is part of the Patriot legacy to rise above a so-so regular season and run the table.

The Bill Russell era Celtics didn't always win the East championship. Just got into the playoffs and kicked ass, winning the NBA Championship.

Which is why 1969 was the sweetest.
