Dont'a Hightower Retires

Donta's tackle of Lynch at the 1 was shocking in real time. Pats were in their regular D at about the 4 yard line, not in goal line, expecting a pass. When Lynch got the handoff heading wide off tackle, it looked like a certain TD, and even as he was going down it looked like his momentum would carry him in. There weren't many defenders ahead of him or outside of him to stand him up or anything. Hightower came from the inside, underneath/behind the blocker, and was so low we couldn't even see him. At that angle I don't know how he generated the power to take out Lynch's legs, who you figure was running as hard as he ever had in his whole career for Super Bowl glory. Then Boom, he was down.

And Dont'a had a bad shoulder to boot. A really remarkable play, all desire. He acted cool but he played hot in the biggest moments.

Great Great player. He made some of the most impact plays in team history.

Wish him all the best!!!!

One of my favorite players here for quite some time. Stable force in the middle of this defense.

Always felt Mayo started the second dynasty wave on defense, even though he wasn’t exactly around for most of it. After that: Devin, Nink, Hightower, Jones, Chung 2.0 were such a key core of those defenses over the years.

Other than Chandler, they’re all done playing now. (And obviously he really wasn’t around for long)

Big Time players make Big Time plays in Big Time spots....

The stop of Lynch, the strip sack of Ryan, the Pats don't win either of those Superbowls without those plays!

I remember being as giddy as a school girl after that first round, Chandler Jones and Hightower!!!

Thanks for the plays and the memories "Mr February" and congrats on a great career.
Hightower gave it all he had on every down, a Patriots Patriot

High forklifted a 315lb Russell Okung when he was in a hard charge. That play forced Skittles to slide ever slightly left so Ayers could clean up. Crazy

He was a beast
